PI Test

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (michaelm @ Jan 31 2008, 09:01 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>This is really impressive from de angelis if he is on race tyres. His times yesterday were also very good; he was apparently on race tyres then.

Keep in mind, that even Rossi does not think the Bridgestone Qs are as good as the michelin ones, so DeAngelis could be B Race tyres. Eitherway, impresse stuff from the guy!

Dovi is looking mighty impressive as well...I would not be surprise if HRC are keeping a close eye on him and his progress.

Toseland keeping up with some serious company, and just behind the factory Honda...Well done JT.

Melandri has to be seriously worried about his 2008 season.
<
And Capirossi must be laughing his A$$ over Marco's woes!
<

James was out in the rain, testing the wet tyres. Great times considering!

The track dried out by about 3pm apparently, to allow Casey to go out and do a few quick laps!
Hopper has got a groin injury. Not good for the newlywed!

I wouldn't worry too much about it yet ...... Marco's running not too bad now really. Just looks odd against Stoner. And we have to remember SToner has a huge jump on all the current Ducati riders.
Plus I have this funny feeling Stoner is real motivated to get the title again. Bit of a shame Dani, Lorenzo and Rossi aren't there really the stat's wouldn't look so one eyed.

Stoner consistency...well what can you say?

James Toseland 2nd place for consistency in his time laps yesterday? No way that's impossible but it's awesome that he is doing really well . YAY go James. I am glad that he is doing so well in Moto GP testing so far. Yeah I know he was testing the wet tyres but he did good work on them.

If testing is any indication of things to come, it looks like he is again the man to beat apart from Rossi.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Jumkie @ Jan 31 2008, 06:22 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Explain.

Because of the way Loris was treated by Ducati in favor of Marco, and Marco left what is seeming to be a pretty good set up at Gresini (ala DeAngelis and Nakano riding better then Marco at the moment)

You can "win" testing?

Suzuki looks like they have a huge testing program for this spring. It will be interesting to see what they decide will be the final machine at Qatar with all the options they seem to have. Impressive. I don't think Capirossi is regretting anything.

Hopper...ouch! Hope it's not too bad.

Not sure how much can be read in to anything at the moment.
But it seems the Suzuki's and Kawasaki's and Randy all still suck at Phillip Island just as they did at the 2007 race there. Not the end of the world, they will be much better at other tracks.
Stoner's race lap times are extremely quick, but it's hard to put that into context without the factory Yamaha's and Pedrosa riding here.

Ok, that's an interesting way of looking at it... You say Marco had a "pretty good set up at Gresini"? Uhm, are you aware he achieved 3 podiums all year and zero wins? Not exactly a "pretty good set up" in my opinion; especially when you consider his highly touted ability and form status as a lower class world champion. Marco left a team where he was extremely unhappy (even to the point of announcing publicly to the world that he would not vie (compete) for "meaningless positions".) Not to mention that Honda wasn't and may not be in the position to develop a satellite team or provide a better engine because they are preoccupied trying to develop the factory effort. And where did Marco go? Oh yeah,--to the current and reining championship team and package (call me crazy, but that doesn't sound so bad). As far as Loris. He struggles all year yet still managed to pull off a win after a stellar previous season (not counting the injuries he sustained in Spain). He is now on a team that is getting better but still has a ways to go to be counted among the top Ducati, Honda, and Yamaha teams. That doesn’t sound exactly like something to be jumping for joy about, now does it?

- Good to see JT being able to run similar time to the factory Honda.
