Nationality champoinships

How's this for an idea. I think we should keep a "Nationality championship" tally going for the GP this year. Just tally the points from each nation's riders to add a little bit more intrest to the Chapionship, along with team and constructor's championships.
I think it would be intresting this year. Definatley "Spain vs. Italy". The spainiards have the numbers with Pedrosa, Gibernau, Elias, Checa and Cardoso. But Italy's got Rossi, Caparossi and Melandri, Who between them took all but two of the race victories last year. I think the US would take a comfortable 3rd, with Hayden backed up by Edwards (But his mum's aussie, so we get half his points
<
) and Hopper filling in the gaps. Then you got Australia and Japan. I think with stoner on an RCV we've got an edge over Tamada, but Nakano's bike is better than CV's.
Theres obviuosly more, like Ellison doing it for the brits, but I can't be bothered going through it all right now.
Any thoughts? The motogpforum.com nationality championships?

I thought Hopper had double nationality, born in the US but of English parents.

i think is a good idea as long as i dnt have to add it all up cause maths isn't my strong subject lol!!! go 4 it sounds great !!!!!

Rossi alone could tackle the majority of the nationalities with the exception of Spain and the US. My personal opinion.

But say you had a podium of Rossi wins, Pedrosa second and Gibbers 3rd.
You're looking at 25 points for Italy and what? 36 for spain? I think it'll be close and I wouldn't bet on the Italians. The three they got are great, but they only got those three. As opposed the those damn spainiards (What's the matter Teo, South America not enough for your conqistadors? Gotta invade motorsport, too???) Of course I'm only kidding. Spain's presence in MotoGP, just like Honda, is a result of the support that comes from it (3 rounds of the GP, numerous major sponsors, MASSIVE fan base)
I think this competion could get real intresting, even after the first round

Quantity isn't as important as quality, Rossi by himself will score more points than many "national teams" together.

I was thinkig that too, Ron. More adding up but worth it. But I didn't wanna suggest it, because I've got a gut feeling on who would win...... Bayliss, Pitt, Corser, Muggas, the FP boys (Sometimes they get points!!!!)
I think Bayliss can more than make up for Verm's point scoring for the home team.
No one else is as strong in competitive numbers, Haga & Kagayama, Lanzi, this "Foret" character (Still don't know where he's from
<
)and Walker. they all lack competitive compatriots.

I wouldn't be against it but it's really gonna hurt my home team. Having a nil in the series will definitely allow the other nations to close and overtake. If we include WSB with MotoGP would it be accurate to say the powerhouses will be Italy, Spain and... Australia??? With the second tier made up of the US and UK?

Ooost you just wanna bum points off the brits
<

If it makes you feel better buddy, we'll do one for AMA too. You might win that one, if Mladin and Hodgson don't stear those valuable top podium points.

I plan on working out a average points per rider score to compliment the overall tally to make up for nations that don't have their own private army on the grid.
I'd do the WSB and GP one separate, too.

Great idea............I'll make a feature of it on the homepage if you like?
