Moto 2

I thought Iannone was on an 800 at first.
<

On a serious note, that bike does look almost as well sorted as an 800. The wheels are glued to the tarmac and it even gets out of shape in a refined fashion just like an 800cc GP bike. I'm not certain, but I think the suspension is the reason. I'm not trying to take anything away from Iannone b/c he's riding perfectly, but that bike is too stable for it to be entirely down to the rider. I think the suspension probably costs more than the entire bike.

Anyway, these runaway victories by Iannone will be very interesting to monitor if the bike is a contributing factor. We are still operating under the pretense that parts are available to everyone via third party mainly b/c Moriwaki, Suter, FTR, and the rest are keen to sell their machines. We still don't know what is going to happen if Ohlins or aero manufacturers start playing favorites or hoarding equipment.

Someone should give him a wildcard ride on one. Lets see if he can duplicate his success. It sure beats who they are suiting up now as replacements. I think he will probably be good the 800.

Yeah, totally agree. Scary crash at the end though. Crashes on straights are always scary, cause they are so rare and totally unexpected.

No joke there Son Of....Thought that bike was gonna clear the safety fence and make its way to the crowd !

Look forward to the moto2 more than the GP now really

That whole race was terrifying to behold. I had knots in my stomach the entire time. To think this would have been a relatively common GP 15 or 20 years ago. Shows you how watered down the sport has become.

This race had everything. A huge pile-up at the first corner (I hope Debon gets sent off for a few races), yellow-flag ride through drama ala Biaggi in 1998 (although he refused to ride through), a first time winner who's been underachieving all season, and a scary crash on the front straight that nearly sent a bike into the grandstand.

I'm glad there's 2 weeks until Sachsenring b/c I'll need that long to digest what craziness I have just witnessed.

I agree with all the above...Great racing, big spills and thrills and 40 dudes all wanting to duke it out every race !!!! Just so much better than the GP's at the minute in my opinion and I am looking forward to Germany !

So until yesterday I had not realize that Iannone was the guy who headbutted Pol Espargaro after taking him out in the last corner in the 125cc misano race last year. Here is the best video I could find susage link . It show big brother shedding a few tears for his bro. It cuts out right before the headbutt, dorna's doing know doubt. I have to say I was becoming a fan of his, but this kinda changes things. Any comments or thoughts?

I think Dorna gave him a slap on the wrist of some sort. I don't remember exactly but i'm pretty sure he didn't get away with it. Either way i'm not too bothered, Rossi has been guilty of worse, and i quite like Iannone for the wild spectacular character he is, even if that means he's sometimes an enemy.

Hey Toro, Feem (Wilairot's Thai nickname) wasn't without a ride... SAG Honda was always there but they missed some pre-season practice due to injury and switching chassis from Suter to Bimota. You (AND ALL AUSSIES) should check out one of Feem's mechanic's blog (with some REALLY GREAT pics of the Bimota Moto2 bike) HERE!!

Thanks for the link MD. Aussies seem to be every where in the world of motorcycle racing.

This was the first Moto2 race I have missed. Bugger because it sounds like it was a ripper. Anyone know where you can watch it on line?

Elias just did himself a world of good on Sunday. That was a huge race for him b/c he beat Iannone and the other riders in the top 5 all went down or finished outside of the points. Massive weekend for Elias.

Also got to give Dunlop props as well. The difference between the soft and hard compounds were just about perfect. The soft compound allowed riders to sprint into the distance, but it went off before the end of the race which created a lot of late race chopping and changing. Exactly how a tire war works. Everyone goes as soft as possible, inevitably some people are a bit too aggressive and late passes are the result.

Great race.

New Moriwaki and Suter fairings look great. Moto2 is coming along nicely, I just hope the quality is maintained when they ditch the spec engine, and everyone is forced to redesign their bikes.

Great ride by Takahashi. Spectacular backing in by Simon as usual.

Has Roby not had a mechanical those Gresini 100th podium celebratory flags and t shirts would have gone back into the truck for another few weeks

It STILL would have been a podium, just not a win for Gresini, no? Poor Rolfo... he was having his ride of the season... Yuki looked great at the end.
