Marco Melandri - sign's for Ducati ??

Maybe HRC will offer him the 3rd factory seat to keep him out of Ducati's clutches? Then again, I can remember when Gibernau went to Ducati after losing his "Factory bike" he said it was great to be on a factory team, because now his problems are the factories problems, and before that his problems stayed in his own pit. Just curious, how much is the 3rd factory bike worth? Kato didn't win on it, did he? And it certainly didn't help Sete much last year.

Kato never took a premier class win. I think the biggest difference between the Gresini third factory seat and the official factory team is the team. I would assume that there wasn't as much communication between the Gresini team and HRC as there was between Repsol and HRC. Things were most likely handled faster within the Repsol team than at Gresini.

i believe marco has the same bike as pedrosa. but was he gettin the good bits as the season progressed???

3rd factory slot gets to test parts after the races like at Brno. They still have the option of rejecting to test new parts from HRC. Unlike hayden who HAS to test the new parts. 3rd factory slot gets to have that advantage but they get the disadvantage that they don't get everything as quickly and communication is a little slower.

Yeah, i think the whole bike situation at Honda was rearranged at the end of 2005, when Biaggi and Gibernau got kicked out and the new blood was let in. I think Hayden got the Evo or the ..... Brno Bike or whatever you like to call it and the rest of them got customer bikes, even Pedrosa.
