Laguna Seca Race **Spoiler**

Well its all been said here, amazing display by Stoner, if he keeps the rubber side down, the titles his.

I was keeping an eye on the wildcards, I dont think Roger Lee did himself any harm, a good solid ride. (Do the Haydens have some rare consistency gene in their make up?) Didn't set the world on fire, but did a good job. I could see him in GP soon.

Chaz Davies, if your gonna put in decent laps like he was, the team could at least fit a proper sprocket. Would have been comfortably in the points. The sprocket thing was farcical.

Du Hamel, whos idea was it to give him the bike? Shocking, the other wildcards made him look like a joke. Back showing the form that he always did on a GP bike. Home track knowledge, a decent Honda, and he was crap. Not a good advert for AMA.

I gotta say again that Roger Lee opened my eyes today, he looked to me like a guy who was out to learn to ride a GP bike and not go balls out to impress. I do think we will see more of him.

CAPIROSSI OUT OF LUCK

LORIS CAPIROSSI, DNF, 8th in World Championship on 77 points
"The weekend had been going very well, so I'm sad not to finish the race. In morning warm-up we were faster than yesterday so I was confident I could have a good race. Casey and Chris were very fast but I believe I could have fought for another podium finish. After a couple of laps the gearbox stuck in second gear and that was that. It seems like it was only a tiny little fault, but sometimes things like that can happen in racing."

http://www.ducati.com/racing/00_home_racin...odelName=newsgp

Ahh right, cheers.

Funny how all this happens to Loris & not Casey.

Stoner // Vermeulen // Melandri - Unstoppable thoroughly deserved, coupled with the Bridgestone tyres being on top did great.

Rossi - Did all he could, considering himself and edwards were very wary of the front tyre overheating i was suprised he finished considering he was pushing. Maybe going slower in some laps helped to preserve the tyre. I dont think he could have done anymore in the situation and he was lucky to come away with points.

Pedrosa - Contrastingly to some I think Pedrosa pushed that bike beyond its limits in the first part of the race, he really went for it and at times looked very shaky yet u could tell he wanted to be up there and was trying his damdest. I think Pedrosa may have shot his tyres before rossi as he was doing faster laps so maybe his tyres got a harder deal.

West - really good run

Tamada - THRILLED! so great to see dunlops + possibly one of the worst bikes out there up there!!

Capirossi - Does he want a ride for next season?? He needs to get a grip its like his heart just isnt in it.

Hopkins - Been hot headed all weekend was inevitable something would happen.

Hayden - Between the two of them they trashed their home grand prix a little more thought in future u dont have to win the race in the first lap.

.... race unless you're an bandwagon jumper.

Great race by Chaz until his sprocket died, he should get a full time ride.

Seconded. No two ways about it.

I've seen better races, but Laguna is so amazing track that can't be boring for me. It's not a track, it's roller coaster!!!!

Bad for Hopper and Nicky, that incident killed the race!

Stoner was amazing, Chris too, but Marco is hero

Chaz was very good I think, first time there and on that bike!!
RLH was really good too, I think.

HAHAHHAHA, this coming from Mr I Love Tosserland, no wait, now i love Bayliss, how come your not back into sucking JT's ....?

What a hypocrite! You only mention Chaz when he makes it into GP's for one race, he does about as well as Fabrizio did in his wildcard (actually worse) and all the poms are proclaiming him as the next British hope, what a joke.. he was only ever an average 250 rider at best, never as good as Ant West as far as being a privateer goes..

Keep waiting for Bradley Smith boys, coz Chaz, JT, they aint gonna do anything im afraid..

boring race, but it was nice to see the riders in action again it's been 3 weeks for me since I saw them racing. I agree with everyone about the top 3 riders. any news tho where melandri is going to next season? the commentators said he was going to tell it after the race and I still haven't heard it where he's going I think the duc's beside stoner???

back to the race. bad luck for NH and Hopper, amazing race from MM

what more can you say? RL Hayden fastes american, who would've thought that

I think this is ungracious, unnecessary and unworthy of you Antfan; you have always been good humoured previously.

I have to confess to being a bandwagon jumper; I jumped on the Wayne Gardner bandwagon which is how I became really interested in motor cycle racing having previously been exclusively a car racing fan. I think this is how most people get into a sport. I rate him as good but not great now, with Mick Doohan then Valentino Rossi since then proving to be all-time greats.

Some of you guys crack me up.I dont know what you expected from RL Hayden. With a total of 2 hours on the bike, he did a phenominal job bringing the bike home in 10th.All along, everybody said a top ten would be fantastic and now that he has done it,it was somehow a failure.Dont forget he was also sharing time the whole weekend with another bike that couldnt be anymore different than a Gp bike [Supersport} which he won by the way.I think you Hayden haters are having a bad case of double vision, like 2 Haydens in Gp.Look on the bright side, you will have twice as much to hate. You also crack me up talking about home track advantage, yes he had one, but that didnt stop you guys from trashing Nicky when he jumped the pond and started riding tracks he had never seen compared to the other Gp riders that grew up racing on those tracks. Some of you still dont think he belongs.RL impressed who he needed to impress this weekend and that is all that matters.

Bit of an unnecessary post this one, Are folks not allowed to pass comment on a rider now unless he is Ant West?

CaseyS an absolute awesome display of how the Laguna circuit should be raced 1:22’s laps 99% of the race, just an absolute dominant display of an outstanding rider!!!...World Champ 2007 “For Sure”!!!...You mark my words!!!...I predicted this when Casey got the ride with Ducati at the end of 2006 on crash.net forum and if you have a look at my predictions for Laguna 3 out the top 4 placegetters isn’t too bad?...lol...

But after this Laguna race “I’m 100% sure that Casey will do the job in 2007!!!”
<
<
<

yeah well i also predicted he would do well on the duc, everyone was calling him crashy and said he did not deserve a motogp seat but i said he was just finding his limits like rossi did in his first year on the 500,
i still think he is an arrogant ausie .... who needs the chin knocking off him like a few on here.

So it's realistic to make sexual comments about someone you have never met?

what ever turns you on.

who are you calling a pom ? this is the meaning of the phrase you love to use to insult us, "theory is that POM is a shortened acronym of Prisoner of His/Her Majesty (POHM) or Prisoner of Mother England (POME). As many of Australia's first settlers were convicts, so your the ...... pom.

As the Americans say if you can walk the walk, you can talk the talk although he obviously has to continue to walk the walk till the end of the season.

I actually think he is not very arrogant for a 21 year old in his situation and no worse than Rossi was at the same age , although Rossi had admittedly had already won world championships.

I don't think he or anyone else including his most ardent fans on this site which include me would suggest he rates with Rossi as a rider at this stage, and it is not impossible but quite unlikely that he will match him in the future. Nevertheless if he wins this year's world championship on a Ducati rather than a Honda or Yamaha against Rossi near to his peak it is a considerable achievement, even if his bike and tires by an unlikely happenstance are a bit better. I have not heard of anyone refusing to accept a world championship in this circumstance in the past.

I dont think any of us, even us "mindless cheerleading" Rossi fans would argue that Stoner is nigh on bulletproof at the moment.

He has a long way to go to match Rossi, but he's the first guy to look capable of doing Ive seen.
