Does anyone know if the Jerez test sees the return of the BMW shoot out? I can't seem to find any info.

I hope so, it was always a great way to start the season.

Not anymore mate, the budget won't cover it. The fastest rider receives a free lunch at pizza hut now

I heard Dorna were taking an idea from the Indy 500, & giving the pole man a pint of milk every Saturday which he has to drink or be disqualified.

You wish. Then all they would have to do is ban astronauts, and put up this sign

.... that, I want everyone who doesn't have the name "Valentino Rossi" banned from the championship. I want to see him ride around on his own with no competition, on the most technologically advanced bike that 50 billion dollars can buy, with absolutely no thought as to the economics of the world or where that 50 billion dollars is actually going to come from.

& I refuse to acknowledge the possibility that the word change exists, even though I just typed it.

So I guess the only difference between us is the name of the rider, right? Right?

That gearbox gets more expensive with every Rossi lose. Its up to 50 billion now. What will it cost by the end of the year. The people spending the money [ the manufacturers} have an idea of what they can spend in the economic climate. They must feel the money is available, or they wouldnt be spending it. Its not like Honda is going to commit corporate hari kari to win a GP title.Suzuki and Kawasaki didnt get out of GP simply because they couldnt afford it. They got out because they were not competitive, and lacked the commitment to be competitive. KHI and Suzuki can afford to be competitive in GP, Its just not a priority in their corporate strategy like it is to Honda and Yamaha. So, the big question is, do you appease the uncommitted for their presence, or do you appease the ones who have stuck it out through thick and thin, footed the bill, and advanced the sport.

I personally believe that it is the uncommitted that foot the bill, & always has been. Any growth in the sport has been because of that demand.

EDIT: Piss, I thought you were talking about the fair weather fans as being the uncommitted.

You please the people that will give best return in the long term. None of the factories that remain have given any guarantee of commitment long term. Ever other day someone suggests that duc will be out soon. If the recent Honda push had come to nothing would we be questioning them too? & If Honda continue to dominate will Yam leg it within a couple of years? So go CRT while their is no money around & wait for the circumstances to change. If the factories decide to stay, great, if they decide to leave at least we still have some racing on a Sunday.

Historically, the answer to that question is no. They have a history of competing in GP. Honda saw what everyone else saw, there is 3 riders that are head and shoulders above the rest, to win a title, you have to have one of them. They went out and got one. That was the improvement for 2011, and that expenditure brought them a title.

Some racing is not GP. You can get "some" racing just about anywhere. If low tech fender banging is your gig, you have to jump on board with DMG, they offer both in one tidy package.
