Have to agree w/ this as well.

I saw this on crash.net

Corser has always been one to have a bit of a moan, dont get me wrong, i like him, 2times world champ an all, but he is one of theose guys that if he aint in the mood then he wont perform, but when he does he is one of the best in the world.

He likes to speak out for the riders, like in 2000 at the end of the season when he moaned about the extra brands hatch round and how the wildcards would be taking valuble points off the regular guys.

I suppose what he is saying is right but i also suppose it makes it safer for the racers as well by making the bikes more predicatble.

Or should i say less un-predictable.

Maybe he has been hanging out with Mat Mladin...

Intresting that you bring that up. Remember when they were hanging out at PI for tests this time last year? Mladin, on his AMA spec Suzuki sets a faster time than Corser on his Alistare Suzuki, and next thing you know, Corser's got a microphone in his mouth saying it's all tyres. Mladin's competition Dunlops were so much better than his control Pirellis, which allowed Mladin to set a better time.

Bit of a career whinger methinks.

Corser is hardly the first to talk about improving technology making it easier for 'lesser' rivals. Doohan made the same observations a decade ago. Rossi has mentioned it too in recent times. And, since motorcycle racing started--as a general trend--the bikes have been getting easier (and safer) to ride it's fair to say that comments like this have always existed. Call it a variation on that age-old saying, "In my day..."

It's all relative anyway. Has Corser ever ridden a bike in WSBK or GPs that didn't have telemetry? Ever ridden for a team where he didn't consult with a suspension tech, a tyre tech?

That's not to say that Corser's basic point isn't without merit. The current level of technology and the information it provides does shorten the learning curve considerably for a lot of riders when they join WSBK or MotoGP. But, as almost everyone has said in this thread, the rider's talent still counts/will always count for a hell of a lot. After all, electronic gizmos the size of Cartman's anal probe didn't help MotoGP rookies like Pedrosa or Stoner or (ahem) De Puniet become (consistent) top three finishers or race winners...

One thing I do have to ask, though: why all the hate for Corser in this thread? Richo made an off the cuff comment that Corser wouldn't have said this last year--which is neither here nor there since nothing in the article refers to his unsuccessful 2006 title defence--and then suddenly it's all sour grapes from Corser, and finally he's a career whinger and in a Mladin anecdote he comes off as the bad guy!

Thats a good point Rising Sun, i fell directly into the trap of reading the interview, and then thinkig, what a sore looser. But really, its just an observation hes made, at the end of the day, he has the traction control advantage just as much as any other rider does, so its totally fair. And he never once mentioned his unsuccessful year. Unlike some riders who say Ducati only win because of their expensive electronics.

I can't speak for anyone else, but i've never been fond of Corser, he bores me, and i dont find him in anyway exciting to watch. It was just the most appropriate thread for me to vent my anti corser opinions, but i still know hes a decent rider. How many other people have been able to win championships on a twin and a four? is it none?

Don't take it to heart man. I was just having alittle fun. I was just playing off a bit of the inclination of the thread. If I really disliked Corser, you'd know about it.

I have respect for him and do like him. He is masterful on both the twin and four as Tom mentioned, and for that, I give him much credit. I actually think he even gave WSBK some credibility for not being a Ducati Cup. Even though, I believe, the Ducati is a superior machine if you don't restrict the rules. (but that's for another thread.)

Anyway, I don't think the posters were being too harsh on Corser, but maybe they were from your point of view, and I accept that. But, fair enough, you made a great point.

People can say what they like about Corser; I was just wondering why. None of it had anything to do with the article itself, that I can see--that's all...

You know what Aussi I would love to see ride?
Gobert. The real badassone, Aaron was it?
I read tht he was just amazing to watch and was spectacular!
I want to see some footageor see him back on a bike.
From what I read he was a real special case.

I don't know. I mean, Corser's a great racer but I think he has a bit of a tendancy to whinge. What annoys me about it is it's not open like Biaggi would, it's more concealed in his comments. This is a prime example. I honestly don't belive he would have came out and said the same thing last year, after winning a title on the most advanced bike on the WSBK grid. That's what annoys me about him. Apart from that, I got nothing against the guy.
