It's like Lorenzo is intentionally riding like .... as payback for ...... treatment from Yamaha. I don't seriously think he's that petty. But whilst he was never the super-best wet rider, he never rode this bad in the rain in previous seasons. So much for Rossi the master tactician and worn rubber rider. Dovi was a dope not to come in and change sooner.

WC is over for the rest. Marcs lead is too big. Rossi 8th and lorenzo 15th. They wont catch marc.

Exciting race all the way through.

Well played MM and honda. Can't control the weather, but the gamble paid off. Those intermediates must feel greasy.

Miller too, rode great again.

That was a hell of a race all the way around.

Fantastic strategy call by Honda, and great race by MM. He never panicked when he was dropping down, and his save in the gravel was tremendous.

The leading pack that didn't come in...total stupidity. Another lost opportunity for Ducati as usual. If they made the change to slicks when MM did, Dovi would have had a great chance to win. At least he salvaged a podium, but it's a completely lost opportunity. I hope Lorenzo is taking notice of all of this. Ducati is cursed.

Kudos to Crutchlow for that monster ride at the end....but I'm sure he will crash out of the next race since his stock has just gone up. ;) Redding gets props for holding on as best as he could with the intermediates.

Kudos to Crutchlow. Pretty good ride by Jack Miller also; on the right wet tyre, staying out hoping for more rain was the only way he could win, didn't throw it down the road, passed Barbera and Rossi at the end after changing tyres.

I agree Misano 2015 repeated for Rossi, what was he thinking?, and his team seemed to make the wrong tyre choice for the second bike as well.

MM looks unstoppable, and perhaps I need to re-evaluate the competence of his crew.

Viagra kept it upright.

Did you hear his interview? For anyone one who doubted me I was the fastest in the dry. I probably should have just stayed out I was so fast.

.... I was happy for him a second before I heard that ..... For the record I doubted him because of his track record.

I missed that, I had to run out of the room.

The dude really needs to stop with saying .... like that because NOTHING confirms his belief in his own greatness.

Crutchlow seems like the classic underachiever who finally gets his .... together too late in the season. But full marks to him and best wishes for increased confidence and better results in these latter stages of the the season. After the Brexit ....-up, the Brits need something to cheer about. :p

There is no ....-up, every passing day vindicates the decision more , we'll be much better .

Gotta give Honda all the props in the world on that call. Yamaha looks positively stupid today. They could see MM lap times. Why would they send a rider back out on the intermediates? 50 points is a very comfortable buffer for Marquez. That probably does it as far as the championship goes this year.

Also, did you guys see that Audi has published a letter of intent to purchase the Tampax Comany? I think they understand that combining the sweetness of Lorenzo's ..... with the Tampax Ducati Team will create an absolutely unstoppable marketing opportunity that they'll be perfectly positioned to capitalize on.

Notwithstanding this I am not sure this race provides any evidence towards Yamaha having backed the right horse (or horses, Vinales continues not to overly impress me) for their future.

Where have all the worthless glory-hunting boppers like Shaunna gone?

No glory to be had today, so she'll disappear into the abyss till Austria, but only if it looks like there could be a victory. I am always amused by how they pop up and suddenly disappear when the joy vanishes.

Brilliant decision by Marquez's crew. Rossi has been riding very well, and for a while it looked like he was creeping back into the 'ship. Incredible feat by Marquez to keep it on 2 wheels in the gravel. Boneheaded moves by Rossi and crew. Rossi is racing Marquez. That's it. He's all that matters. Their decisions should have been made solely relative to Marquez - no one else's position on the track matters.

I've been coming to think that in the dry, the GSX-RR has probably flattered Vinales far more than anyone is realizing. It brings up the usual question of how much is the bike, and how much is the rider? Aleix Espargaro has been not terribly remarkable compared to Vinales, but the word around the paddock is Suzuki may have the best overall chassis on the grid...of course this means little without wins or consistently excellent results. I actually think Lorenzo might have been better off at Suzuki because of the chassis. It would just be a question of whether they could get the engine and mapping up to the top tier level. Either way, I wouldn't be terribly shocked if they managed a race victory within the next 18 months. It will be difficult, but if nothing happens this year, Iannone may give them a far better shot than Vinales has.

Defintely true on the gravel! I think the rain probably/maybe solidified the surface a little. He came in HOT! impressive save. Can't blame the tire choice on Rossi, he had nothing to do with. But Yamaha and the crew... wow! Not a good decision, when the evidence was already there to be seen that the slicks were yielding excellent results.

Question for the speculatively-inclined out there: Would Team Rossi have gotten their strategy so badly wrong here (and at Misano in 2015) had one J. Burgess, esq. still been crew chief?

You'd think that JB would have at least ensured the 2nd bike had slicks, which possibly would have seen #46 salvage a podium...

Good take. I agree all around.
