Instead of predicting race wins, I wonder who everyone predicts will crash?

I want to say Lorenzo but he has a habit of unfortunately surprising me

Cal Crutchlow blasts MotoGP 'embarrassing tow artists' in qualifying - MotoGP - Autosport

Cal Crutchlow has hit out at "tow artists" in MotoGP who he says are embarrassing in their quest to follow top riders to set quick times in practice and qualifying.

The LCR Honda rider was fourth in German Grand Prix practice on Friday but endured a frustrating Saturday and will start the Sachsenring race from 13th on the grid.

In Saturday morning's third practice session, Crutchlow said he was blocked by Aprilia's Stefan Bradl, and then lamented a decision not to use a new front tyre in the first phase of qualifying.

Jorge Lorenzo denied him a Q2 spot by just 0.046 seconds, even though Crutchlow's time would have been good enough for sixth in the main session.

Conversely, Avintia Ducati rider Hector Barbera qualified a career-best second, having run directly behind polesitter Marc Marquez in his first run, during which he managed to take top spot briefly.

He improved again at the end of the session, while right behind Ducati's Andrea Iannone.

"These idiots, they can't be in the top 10 so they just rip the arse out of people," Crutchlow said.

"Honestly, I'm going to come soon with a membership for about six guys to the 'caravan club'. Because that's all they are, ....... tow artists.

"We're going to see where Barbera finishes in the race tomorrow, they're artists at it.

"I know it's part of the game, but it's absolutely purely embarrassment for these people to do it.

"That's like saying, 'I'm not as good as you, on a general day-to-day basis, I need help to do it'."

'IF THEY DID A LAP ON THEIR OWN THEY'D BE NOWHERE'

While Crutchlow acknowledges that the practice is legal, and riders do follow rivals on track, there was a distinction with the routine offenders.

"If you find someone on the track, or if you catch someone on your outlap, fine," he said.

"What makes you a tow artist is if you're doing it every session of every weekend.

"You see Lorenzo, he goes at the start of the session, he's the first out of pitlane generally, and there's two artists behind him immediately.

"And they manage to stay with him and that's their fastest lap of the whole session.

"Or they'll save it for the last run and do it again with someone else.

"They have a right to do what they want on the track to an extent, but it pisses you off when people take positions.

"It's completely legal, so my story is in half a way I'm complaining about something you can do.

"I'm just saying it's embarrassing for them.

"They'll be celebrating those things like wins and, really, if they did a lap on their own, they'd be nowhere."

how about mugello, Cal? ;)

It would be great to see Dani win it....
Once again JLO showing he can't ride well without all things being perfect especially the weather...

I agree, I quite like Dani :)

Will be interesting to see who the top 3 are and if Rossi has a 4th DNF...

Yes, he has had the most incredible luck as far as all things being perfect for him, given the 43 premier class wins, 3 premier class titles, the 250 class wins and two 250 titles. I think he won 125 races as well.

Just for my interest, what in Povol's post is non- factual? Not that Rossi prefers hard carcass tyres and Jorge soft ones, nor that MM is equally suited by Rossi's tyre preference, nor that the Michelin race day tyres were specifically tailored, nor that MM is riding more sensibly or in a more mature fashion this year, and probably not even that MM's current bike is inferior.

There is a difference between you not wanting things to be true and them not actually being true.

What is completely devoid of factual backup is the conspiracy conjecture, that you left out of your list. ;)

On the other hand, there is some factual backup for a non-conspiracy view of this issue: as we all remember, Michelin started with a softer carcass, then some tires exploded and they had to switch to a harder one.

Anyway Lorenzo won also on the harder carcass. It's just a bad moment for him, soon he'll be back and all this nonsense will be forgotten.

I may sound naive, but, why can't the race organiser rearrange the motoGP premier race alone based on the weather prediction, so that atleast the premier class tournament is free from weather intervention?

I no doubt can't match you in several other languages, but my ability to read and comprehend written English is quite good, thanks all the same.

I quote from the post by MV to which I replied, which was in regard to Povol's post, viz:
"Everything you just stated is your own personal opinion/theory and you have absolutely no factual data to back up any of it".
I disagreed that there was nothing factual in the post, but said (twice in fact) that any conclusions drawn/opinions given by Povol based on the facts to which he alluded were his own.

Again one of your allegiance started the current argument, commenting that Jorge having loses in practice was a sign he was having a "meltdown", and asking why no-one had posted regarding same, thereby implying no Jorge partisans were making excuses for him btw. If he didn't like the ensuing discussion, tough, perhaps he shouldn't have provoked it.

And once again, you along with others partial to Valentino are hardly in a position to take umbrage with anyone raising conspiracy theories on a small corner of the Internet given your boy's fairly recent raising of a massive such conspiracy theory to the world press in general.

The pisstake and joke answer is that the race organiser is not God, God is riding in the race (according to some) :p

The serious answer is two fold primarily.

- Dollars - the organisers sell the tv rights for quite large sums of money and much of the tv rights relies on live coverage. The dollar value is based on a lot of different aspects but one is the ability to have the race shown in a 'prime time' slot as then the broadcaster can sell the advertising time space for a higher dollar than they could were the race to be telecast at a non prime time in terms of total viewership

- Racing is by and large an all season event and just as one may ride in the wet, they should race in the wet as there is ample technology available with electronics, tyres etc to make racing in the wet extremely possible. In fact even in the wet the tyres are so good that riders can get their knees down etc but certainly their overall race pace will drop. Let us also not forget that in bike terms the wet is an equaliser of sorts such that the wet allows riders with a different skillset (ie. dirt track background where a bike moving ist he norm) to shine

There is of course much much more than the above which are but two reasons

I see the wet weather has brought out all of the Rossi fans on here, no doubt thinking victory awaits for their golden god.

If Dani does get out in front I hope his pitboard doesn't spoil his hopes like many years ago at turn 1. Didn't they spook him with a false sense of losing his lead?

You guys gotta start using the quote marks when you post news articles... ;)

Anyway, I'm glad Crutchlow said all of this. We joke about him at large, but it's like I said, Barbera is a worthless ...., and the entire towing thing for him and some others is about trying to compensate for their overall lack of talent.
