The Grid looks pretty poor overall... a couple of the usual old boys and alot of untried talent.

I'm actually excited for the up coming season. Will Kimi make it two in a row? Will Lewis show that he learned from the last 2 races? Will Alonso challenge for the title again?? Great to have guys like Piquet Jr. and Bourdais in F1. Also curious about how Heikki and Vettel will perform. I can't wait!!

New Ferrari F2008 getting launched today.

Let's see if it's anything radical.

red, silver and british racing green are the only real F1 car colours. I loved it when jaguar had a brg car and ferrari and mcclaren mercedes had close to their traditional colours.

Would that be the 'West' sponsorship?

The public road is dangerous for everybody thats why we have national speed limits.
You should come out to Oz - you'd love the "Every K over's a Killer" slogan they have here.

Speed is NOT dangerous in itself. Inappropriate speed is.

Inappropriate speed is not related in any way, shape, or form to the speed limits in the UK or anywhere else for that matter. You can be doing 50mph in a 60 limit and if the circumstances are wrong then that can be dangerous. Same is true the other way around. The public road is not dangerous, the idiots that can't drive appropriately are.

I have no idea how busy the A22 was when he was clocked, but 196kph is only 40mph above the French speed limit of 130kph and would be completely legal in Germany on many sections of their autobahns. How is that a "silly speed"? If grandad with his Volvo and ..... eyesight was doing it then it may be possible to class it as silly and dangerous, but an F1 driver with his reaction times, give me a break.

Finally, not all laws are inherently "good" and there are many I consider myself to be above - speed limits are one of them. As I said, speed limits that do not vary with road and weather conditions cannot not make sense at all times. Sometimes they are too high and sometimes, if you have the ability and the machinery to go faster, then they are way too low to make statements such as "to exceed them is dangerous".

Edit:

Just found this on Sniff Petrol - I'm obviously not alone in my thoughts!
Speeding Cop Might Be Normal

Anyone pointed out the '23' coincidences for Lewis?

Aged 23
Number 23
Car designation 22 (edited as I got them wrong)

Btw, Heikki looks REALLY out of place in the McLaren overalls.

The only real revelation at these launches are the liveries, as far as the actual aerodynamic advances of the cars, they don't reveal much until the proper testing season gets underway. I'm getting a bit bored with that McLaren livery though, theres just something uninspiring about it after a while. The 2006 version was beautiful, it seems to have got less so as time has worn on. Love the new Ferrari, though.

He won't when he derails the Hamilton hype-train. C'mon Heikki!

Waste of a seat imo. I can understand from the point of view that he'll bring alot of experience, but at least Klien would've brought a bit of potential too. I'm not too bothered about Rodriguez, it was too soon for him anyway.

I wonder why Paul Di Resta wasn't even considered? Maybe its a lack of funds, but I'm sure Mallya said he wouldn't hire pay drivers. Di Resta is as good a candidate as any for an F1 drive.

I agree with you.
I personally think Fisi's time is over. He just aint that good anymore. They could have gone for someone else instead. I guess at least they will have experience in the team now..whether that will help remains to be seen. Wish him the best though!

I want the white back instead of the silver...

Saying that though, Fisi always used to thrive in the lower cars. It's what makes him one of the strangest driver I've ever followed; he used to be brilliant when he had a mountain to climb, when the odds were against him in a Jordan or a Benetton. But then it all fell apart when he finally got a championship winning car at Renault. I remember thinking he was a contender for the championship pre-season 2005 (and before everyone sniggers in hindsight, Fisi was very highly rated before 2005, he hadn't had the car before then). Australia '05 seemed to confirm it, and then it all just, well, went to ..... Strange. Maybe Fernando got to him.

Maybe we'll see a rekindle of form at Force India, but I think now he's geniunely past it.

The Marlboro colours are gone forever now. Just like the JPS Lotus
