On another note from an inside source ex Renault driver Koverlinan was at Mclaren today, new driver for 08?

Now official

Unfortunately for Heikki, I think McLaren are going to struggle next season. With the development of the 2008 car being severly halted by the FIA investigations, and the fact that their infamous second design team never seem to produce a championship challenger (see 2002, 2004 and 2006), it ain't looking good. I think it'll be between Renault and Ferrari.

So, the driver lineup now looks like this.

DRIVER NATIONALITY TEAM/ENGINE

NICK HEIDFELD GERMANY BMW SAUBER-BMW

ROBERT KUBICA POLAND BMW SAUBER-BMW

KIMI RAIKKONEN FINLAND FERRARI-FERRARI

FELIPE MASSA BRAZIL FERRARI-FERRARI

ADRIAN SUTIL GERMANY FORCE INDIA F1-FERRARI

JENSON BUTTON BRITAIN HONDA-HONDA

RUBENS BARRICHELLO BRAZIL HONDA-HONDA

LEWIS HAMILTON BRITAIN MCLAREN-MERCEDES

HEIKKI KOVALAINEN FINLAND MCLAREN-MERCEDES

MARK WEBBER AUSTRALIA RED BULL-RENAULT

DAVID COULTHARD BRITAIN RED BULL-RENAULT

FERNANDO ALONSO SPAIN RENAULT-RENAULT

NELSON PIQUET JR BRAZIL RENAULT-RENAULT

SEBASTIAN VETTEL GERMANY SCUDERIA TORO ROSSO-FERRARI

SEBASTIEN BOURDAIS FRENCH SCUDERIA TORO ROSSO-FERRARI

TAKUMA SATO JAPAN SUPER AGURI F1-HONDA

ANTHONY DAVIDSON BRITAIN SUPER AGURI F1-HONDA

VITANTONIO LIUZZI ITALY TBC

RALF SCHUMACHER GERMANY TBC

GIANCARLO FISICHELLA ITALY TBC

JARNO TRULLI ITALY TOYOTA-TOYOTA

TIMO GLOCK GERMANY TOYOTA-TOYOTA

NICO ROSBERG GERMANY WILLIAMS-TOYOTA

KAZUKI NAKAJIMA JAPAN WILLIAMS-TOYOTA

Looks like Schumacher, Liuzzi and Fisi will be fighting for the vacant FORCE INDIA seat.

AFAIK Neither of the Aguri and F.India seats are confirmed.

Sutil hadn't actually signed yet, he was waiting on the Macca option so I guess he will definately stay at Force India.

The other seat will be taken by either Fisichella, Liuzzi, Klien, Rodriguez or Van der Garde. Ralf is out of the equation.

Super Aguri has a lot of problems with coming up with a budget, a lot of staff has been fired, and Aguri will need Honda to pay the bills to survive (which is not certain).
Most likely Sato will drive the 1st car.

But the 2nd is far from confirmed, last thing I heard Luca Filipi had a serious chance of taking that seat because he can bring a significant sponsor to the team.

Yeah, their 2nd design team is CRAP!!! 02, 04 and 06 was just one BIG JOKE!! I hope for their sake it will be better next season, but I would be shocked to see them still on top. I also expect to see Renault do a much better job in 08, they might challenge for wins, and with Fernando on their side again, they might be a really serious title contender. I'm looking forward to the battle between Nelson and Fernando. I hope they're allowed to race each other. Alonso should be the better one..

Ain't gonna happen, unfortunately. Piquet is contracted as a clear number two.

Is he really contracted as a clear number two?
<

That's really a shame, cause I think it would have been an ineresting battle.
I think Fernando is better than Nelson, but we also thought he would beat Lewis like it was the most normal thing. I guess him going back to Renault is more than logical, he was the clear number one as well in the years he won his titles. I'm glad Heikki left renault, cause playing 2nd fiddle to Nando isn't what he's aiming for, but driving along side Lewis wont be easy at all. They will still rather see Hamilton win. It's gonna be interesting for sure.

Is Coulthard planning to retire when hes 50?
<

No, he's planning to retire after he won the title
<

Don't you remember his famous words: ''This is the year, I'm gonna be champion, I'm gonna beat Schumacher, and win the title''
<
<

Well, I guess if you dont believe in yourself nobody will, but I never really believed him. He might think, MS isn't competing anymore, so it must happen one of these years..that's my guess anyway
<

I find it very amusing, Renault will give both drivers the chance to race, like they've done in the past, (don't you lot remember Fisi winning the first race of 2005)

Only case of explicit nº1 policy where the 2nd driver works for the first since day one is MS in Ferrari.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE<div class='quotemain'>I'm glad Heikki left renault, cause playing 2nd fiddle to Nando

Yeah well he better pray his interests don't lie in the path of Hamilton's in McLaren.

Filipi has confirmed a GP2 drive, so he is out of contention for that Aguri seat. BTW Honda has announced they will pay the bills for 2008 at least. So the team will go on.

The race you quoted was special circumstances, Alonso started 13th on the grid, and Fisichella was new to the team, and at that time, many had high hopes for him. I wouldn't say he became number two in the team until midway through 2005 when it was clear Fernando was ready to take that next step.

Alonso is in a very different position within the team than he was in 2005. One of the key points in the negotiations this time around was that Fernando would be undisputed number one in the team. To me, that means its very unlikely they will race each other, unless under special circumstances like above.

French police caught Lewis Hamilton speeding (196km/h) in a highway in the north of the country, they suspended his licence. Hehe.
<

Stupid ..... that Lewis is. Speeding like that. I am glad he got his licence taken from him.

I can just picture the McLaren PR department now, desperately scurrying around trying to protect his golden image.. oh what fun

I bet you're really enjoying this..am I right??
I'm sure you think this is also some kind of sign of him being so evil

He's stupid and not the first F1 driver to be caught at silly speeds, do these people think they are above the law?

The public road is dangerous for everybody thats why we have national speed limits.
