<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Orrmate @ Jan 10 2008, 09:06 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Saying that though, Fisi always used to thrive in the lower cars. It's what makes him one of the strangest driver I've ever followed; he used to be brilliant when he had a mountain to climb, when the odds were against him in a Jordan or a Benetton. But then it all fell apart when he finally got a championship winning car at Renault. I remember thinking he was a contender for the championship pre-season 2005 (and before everyone sniggers in hindsight, Fisi was very highly rated before 2005, he hadn't had the car before then). Australia '05 seemed to confirm it, and then it all just, well, went to ..... Strange. Maybe Fernando got to him.

Maybe we'll see a rekindle of form at Force India, but I think now he's geniunely past it.
Exactly!! That's so weird about him. Whenever he had a ''bad'' car (Minardi, Jordan, Benetton, Sauber) he did a very good job. Always very reliable, and usually better than his teammate, but like you said, when he joined Renault, and had FA as his teammate, he couldnt handle the pressure somehow. Alonso was simply better, and I guess Giancarlo couldnt cope with it. The last few years I wasnt impressed by his results. I kinda had the feeling Heikki would do a better job overall, and thats what happened. I'm not sure what he's expecting to achieve with his new team, but maybe..maybe we'll see the old GF again..???

Oh ok..good for him!!

Just checked yesterday's times, Fernando was fastest in his Renault ''debut'':

1 F. Alonso Renault Bridgestone 01:19.503 70
2 P. de la Rosa McLaren Bridgestone 01:19.650 111
3 K. Räikkönen Ferrari Bridgestone 01:19.708 90
4 N. Rosberg Williams Bridgestone 01:19.756 81
5 F. Massa Ferrari Bridgestone 01:19.772 85
6 H. Kovalainen McLaren Bridgestone 01:19.780 130
7 S. Vettel Scuderia Toro Rosso Bridgestone 01:20.305 86
8 S. Bourdais Scuderia Toro Rosso Bridgestone 01:20.346 76
9 M. Webber Red Bull Bridgestone 01:20.392 80
10 K. Nakajima Williams Bridgestone 01:20.526 66
11 T. Glock Toyota Bridgestone 01:20.598 109
12 G. Fisichella Force India F1 Bridgestone 01:20.764 76
13 K. Kobayashi Toyota Bridgestone 01:22.060 55

Not sure what to think of the times though. I think Ferrari and McLaren will be strong again, but both Renault and BMW will be stronger.

''Only'' 8 weeks till it all starts again!!!!!

Oh god.

That is ancient, and on the official season review, the engine cuts out before he hits the N button.

I would have thought you would have been more clued up Orr.

Don't think it was posted already, I didn't see it yet. Thanks!!
I only read a few articles that said it was his own fault. I guess we all make mistakes, but damn, what a moment to make that one...ah well, I'm not complaining.

I also had no idea..

Hadn't seen the season review yet. I stand corrected.

What's that supposed to mean?

Well you appear in F1 threads with 'pearls of wisdom' on how to make F1 better, I would have at least thought you would have been clued up on such things before making a statement.

I accept it is an obscure video, and I accept that this isn't an F1 forum, so it won't have been discussed in detail.

scurries off to Pf1 and Autosport forums

I admit I made a mistake. We all do. I didn't know the said video existed. So for that, I do apologise. I don't get much spare time and as I did point out in my original post, often tend to get left behind with these things.

However, I can only assume from the nature of your reply that this is some kind of personal issue with me as a member. That's fine, I quite frankly couldn't give a toss. Just don't let it get in the way of what normally are good natured debates.

With regard to your 'pearls of wisdom' comment, yes, I do have strong opinions on the way the sport is being run. I'm proud that I do so. People may not always agree with my opinions, and I certainly wouldn't expect them to. But dragging these opinions up in a completely unrelated discussion, is something I see no need for.

I wonder if Memento or Franco would have got such a reaction if they'd have posted the same thing. I suspect not.
