Yeah, I think Jumkie started calling him Emperor Puig. I like the Star Wars comparison. Makes you believe that the rotten little kid who nearly sabotaged Hayden's championship might have a chance at redemption.

Dani is a huge fan of the franchise. I remember him brandishing a plastic light sabre on the podium upon securing his first 250 title I think. Also remember that ridiculous logo of the baby, dummy in mouth wielding a light sabre?

Alberto is unquestionably Darth Sidious and HRC the Empire. Rider wise, were this formula to continue, we would be facing an 'attack of the clones'

welcome to the dark side.. smirks evilly

there was a time, not all that long ago, when i was on a one woman mission to defend his honour against all the haters on this forum. i'm happy to say a general "i told you so" to anyone that may remember.
<

I do however have the exact same view on his fellow compatriot, i used to hate (and i mean it that strongly) Lorenzo, but since his jump up to the top class he's won me over. Who says people never change aye..

Dont get carried away. all we are are saying is we dont want to kill him any longer
<

Some people change... most don't. I think personality-wise he's got the typical short-guy Napoleon complex going,

coupled with arrogance much fed and fired up by his ....-head manager, combined with a general shyness which

is perceived as "lack of personality". I don't think he's changed so much as taken account of the massive critisism

of his ...... little attitude. He can only get away with his attitude because he's a talented racer. If not for racing -

the only job he'd be qualified for would be tampon. Just because Pedrobot has been programmed to shyly smile

at the crowd and wave - don't be fooled into thinking he's a changed person.

Wow Kesh, you really brought your A game this one.

Agree^ 100%

I thought the baby had a spear.

If anybody is under any illusions of Dani's willingness to be a team player, read THIS

Stoner calls for Honda unity

By David Emmett and Matt Beer Tuesday, September 21st 2010, 08:07 GMT

Casey Stoner has urged his 2011 employer Honda not to operate a split garage, and insisted that Dani Pedrosa has nothing to fear from Stoner's former Ducati boss Livio Suppo if the Italian takes charge at Honda.

Suppo joined Honda from Ducati in a marketing role last year, but there have been suggestions that he could reprise his former team manager position at his new squad to coincide with Stoner's arrival next season.

This is reported to have met with resistance from Pedrosa's camp. Like Yamaha, Honda currently runs virtually separate teams for its two works bikes with each having an individual team manager - a situation Pedrosa sees no need to change.

"I think right now the structure is good. It's working perfectly," he said.

"You can see we were struggling quite a lot at the beginning of the year. We got lost with the bike, and with the current structure we did a great job and now we are doing well. The situation, I think, couldn't be better."

But Stoner is adamant that he does not want to be working with a split team.

"Most teams these days, other than Suzuki and Ducati, have two different team managers for each side," he acknowledged. "We're all about the team here [at Ducati].

"They're not teams, they're freaking split down the middle and all this sort of stuff. They're two completely separate sides under the same brand.

"I think if you're going to ride for a team, you may as well be a team player. I've got no issues."

He admitted that the apparent tension over the 2011 Honda structure had come as a surprise to him.

"At the moment it's nothing to do with me," said Stoner. "When it gets sorted, then we can understand.

"At the moment there seems to be some conflict in the team. I don't know why. I'm not even there yet... So really I can't say anything on that matter.

"I have my contract with Honda and I was the first to sign this year, so no problems for me."

Stoner denied that Suppo had been instrumental in signing him - and insisted that his former Ducati boss would be totally even-handed at Honda.

"I think Livio's about the best one [for fairness] in the whole paddock, to be honest," said Stoner.

"The perfect example is when he was with Marco Melandri [at Ducati in 2008]. Marco complained about a lot of things to do with the bike, but Livio worked so hard. He changed people, did everything he could to get everything working inside that team.

"I didn't see him on my side of the garage because when everything was going well, he didn't need to be there. He was working as hard as he could for... I don't want to say it, but... the weakest link of the team.

"Livio isn't what everyone thinks he is. He's not working for me.

"Honda was interested [in me] from the beginning. My contract was up and he was absolutely nothing to do with it."

Pedrosa added that as far as he was concerned, there had been no firm decision about whether the team separation would be kept for 2011 - but that he was keen that it was retained.

"I don't know, this is something we have to wait and see," said the Spaniard. "But, as I said, my plan is yes [stay separate]."

I fully expect a cat fight next year.

I seem to remember that Pedro got into gp by winning a competition which is pretty cool.I remember when he first rode the 990 and i laughed. It looked like a little kid on a big bike and he could not ride it so well at first. Dani has come of age and like lorenzo has won most of the fans respect.

Funny thing happened at Aragon. Jenny Gow on the bbc interviewed Puig. He was all smiles and humour. straight talking and seemed very approachable. we judge by what we see but we see so little as fans

I thought the baby had a spear.

The memory can be fallacious, and looking at google images it appears you're right Lexicon, it is some sort of spear..which is frankly even more bewildering
<

Whatever the thinking behind it - It's certain he had a hand in its inception. as reserved a Dani appears to be - he occasionally reveals his true colours..

I agree he looked like a kid on the 990....but he suprised me (and I am sure many others) by riding it very well his rookie year (8 podiums including 2 wins, 3 poles and 15 points away from 3rd place overall). I don't pull for him on race day, but he has been in the alien class from day 1 on the 990cc bike that should have tossed that pip-squeak every weekend.

Well i remember his first races when he ran straight on corners because he couldnt steer.

and he still got second place in his debut 990cc race......not bad for a midget who can't steer a MotoGP bike.

again, I don't pull for the guy....but he can ride the big bike and the Pedrocycle.

I was always in awe when he rode the 250, smashing the likes of Stoner and Lorenzo, and if it wasn't for one VR and a very well sorted Duke he probably would have a motogp title by now. I believe he has Jorges measure at present, and probably will for the rest of the year, as for next year, well I'm actually in favour of the wall and the Doohan philosophy of development. Dani is far more likeable than Stoner will ever hope to be......

Its easy for Pedro to be likable when his team mate isn't chalenging him. Dovi is no threat, so all the cr@p that came out when Hayden was his team mate hasn't been necessary. I predict a return to the nasty little Pedro/Puig combo once Casey gets there.

I predict the Pedro/Puig that we loved to hate will be back next year.............in "The Empire Strikes Back"

Hell, no! I ain't no Pedrophile!

While I've got to admire his grit, I'm not convinced his attitude has improved that much. We'll see next year, when Puig starts throwing knives at Casey. Will Dani obediently chime in, or will he leave the .... stirring to Alberto? If he takes the high road, I'll be convinced that he's grown up.

I like a mix of Star Wars and Star Trek. I swear Darth Puig has an Agony Booth (from the alternate reality Trek universe) that he sticks Peddles in after he's made a mistake on track, or finished below expectations. As Dani writhes in agony, Puig hisses, "Perhaps you think you're being treated unfairly?"

This is one of the wankiest threads ...... mention Pedrosa and folks get all "I'm better than Pedrosa! ..... well maybe not as a person but as a person! .... just look at my Nobel prize in "Fan Peace" to prove it!"

Yeah he didn't seem too bad at all. I didn't really know what to think of him before cos I don't remember ever hearing him speak.

As for Dani, I've been a bit of a fan since I saw him in 125's and never understood why so many people hated him.

Blah Blah Blah

You're all a bunch of sheep being lulled into complacency by Pedrosa's quite demeanor. Riding fast and keeping your mouth shut does not make someone a good person or erase past ...... deeds.

Just because he races motorcycles doesn't mean he has admirable qualities.

He's a human first and to date he's failed to show any character trait that didnt further his own interest.

He's a ....... douschebag and your all ........ except Arabb of course.

I read that as:
