I was a big fan of MotoGP in the 90s and am only just getting back into it now. I am curious what riders from the 90s were favourites with fans. I always liked Àlex Crivillé, even though he was always second-best to Mick Doohan.

Keith huewen.
Carl fogarty
Mat mladin
Hahaha...no no

Abe,biaggi, checa, okada, harada, waldmann and I loved rossi a whole lot in 125/250. Was my hero

Excellent thread. This is exactly what we need. I really don't have favourite riders bar the 'Greatest of all Time' - but Mike was from a completely different era.

I loved all the American ex dirt trackers. Transformed the sport.

Wayne Rainey - beyond question.

Norick, for his fabled wildcard appearance in '94 - still one of my favourite races of all time.

Rob Mac, purely because of the comical image of him attempting to slipstream on the Mistral with the aerodynamics of a barn door.

And while I have the chance, I'll save Doc No the trouble...

Arrab....was schwantz anywhere near Rainey? Or just a bit more ballsy and in the end...you know.

Their battles were just before my time, I only watched in retrospect.
But I do remember schwantz still being around when I started watching ...obviously that was short lived . I curse that he didn't stay around to battle doohan. Could have been my first epic duel to remember.
I always liked doohan and in retrospect I dig his straight talking. I never understood why we're not choking on his shlong more

Technically, many would say not - but the Suzuki was generally less competitive than the Yamaha and perhaps for the large part a greater challenge to ride than the Yam.

All those guys had balls.

There is a classic move of Schwantz's (amongst many) that I always remember - going around the outside of Rainey into the Melbourne loop. Can't recall the year. Their rivalry was scintillating and pushed them to the absolute extremes of their talents respectively.

Yet despite all their disdain for each other the racing was clean.

Doohan
Rainey
Lawson
McCoy
Sarron - not sure why but just enjoyed his riding

Michael Rudroff

Doohan...just a pure racer with massive balls, and no time for .........

His comeback after 1992 is as inspiring as it comes.

In the 90s Biaggi was what kept me watching GPs, when Doohan and the NSRs were crushing all before them.
I've written it before but young Italian bloke on Black bike from little factory in Noale smacking the Hondas. Switching bikes and smacking Aprilia. And absolutely killing it during his first 500 outing.

Then the hero and villain .... started...

Is Anthony Gobert from the 90's? I've heard great things about him.

I actually couldn't think of his name so I googled drug addict Australian motorcycle rider and his wiki was the first hing that came up.

Randy Mamola. even though he retired in 92 he was fun to watch as he always did something crazy like doing wheelies down the straights.

his career narrowed down to a day. ouch.

Seriously Dubs, if you ever get the chance watch the races on that day and what he was able to do on the underpowered Muzzy machine

No excuse for how HE f*cked up his own life and what he became but man, the talent wasted is (or was) immense

And, you ....... for doing Arrib's work for him ............. he usually brings Gobert into the picture to annoy me as he knows what I think of Gobert
