Like the 2012 tire to slow Casey down conspiracy, to the Honda weight to slow Casey down conspiracy, to the lets introduce CRTs to slow Casey down conspiracy, to this lets not show Casey lapping a rider conspiracy, u guys just make .... up, throw it into the air and hope it sticks. Not only did they show the lap rider, but they talked about it as it happened.

I don't recall a lapped CRT to specifically slow down casey conspiracy, although it was suggested that he would be stroppy about it which doesn't appear to have been the case. On the TV coverage here which I think is the official dorna coverage they showed stoner and lorenzo passing the lapped rider (easily on the straight as it happened). Nick harris was very quick to say this happened all the time in days of old if anyone wants to read anything into that, although it does have the virtue of being true. I think petrucci had an off, and estoril is a short circuit, so riders being lapped may not be a frequent occurrence.

I think dorna would prefer someone more marketable than stoner to be winning, but I think if anything they are niggling honda, and trying to help ducati and the crts (not unreasonably) rather than trying to stop stoner. They did actually change the bike weight over a year after setting the regulations, and while the new tyre was developed at the request of the riders bridgestone went with a preference other than that of the hrc riders; nakomoto did question why having developed the tyres they couldn't provide both. If honda are responsible for the bikes being over-engineered which seems a reasonable theory then I guess reining them in is good policy, although again it seems that extra cost is being generated in the name of cost saving.

Lorenzo appears to be a setup rider who likes the bike working a certain way, but ,besides Qatar, he hasn't had a dry weekend. Lorenzo won at Qatar. If anything can be gleaned from the 2012 season so far, grip-it-and-rip-it racing favors Stoner. He can adjust on the fly, and ride through/around problems. If all is fair and sunny, Lorenzo may have a slight advantage now that Yamaha have closed the performance gap.

I think this is definitely true, lorenzo is like rossi, perhaps without quite his tactical and strategic audacity, and hones a bike over a race week-end, whereas stoner is usually fast from the get-go but doesn't improve as much. They have basically lost whole practice sessions at the last 2 races.

agreed, my point is simply that i got the impression they were at least trying harder compared to the last 2 races!

Sorry, my comment wasn't meant as a jibe... more an addendum

Thats because there wasnt one. Certain someones have a bad habit of embellishment to push an agenda.

Is the testing tomorrow going to be private? From reading twitter it looks like Yamaha is going to be bringing out plenty of parts and we should get an idea of what the duc can do with a tamer engine.

Wasnt shown on Speed. I caught a glimps of a rider a couple of corners ahead of Stoner and they went to the battle for 8th place and never showed the rider getting lapped, and never mentioned it.

I understand, it was just kind of a funny time to imply a cover up. The overtake really did have all the makings of an incident that would end in tears b/c Stoner closed him down on the straight, and then made the pass at the very end of the braking zone into turn 1. Honestly, I was anticipating the worst, with a full fledged Stoner uppercut when he finally got by Petrucci. To my surprise, two giant blue flags were waving on both sides of the front straight. Petrucci saw them, stayed all the way to the outside, practically riding the curb, while the leaders filed past.

I love to give the GPC crap b/c they can barely manage to sell/operate the motorsport goldmine they run, but the lapped rider incident went off without the slightest hitch. They deserve a lot of credit, and Petrucci as well.

More funny, high Collie:

You missed this one.

Thanks for the well wishes from all of ya, total bummer wrong place wrong time & we were looking good for pole Position too

I'm excited. Hope it's really going to make a difference.

Enough already. Put valentino on a coca cola/monster/whatever (they may be the same by next year) yamaha; he might not be any faster than jorge but would quite likely mix it up more.

I think leaving mid-season would basically finish ducati though, so I hope they can sort it for the future over the rest of this year.

Lex, exactly (I would quote the post but for some reason it isn't working on my pc) but definitely agree that the officials and Petrucci did an outstanding job with the lapping incident.

Like you I was somewhat concerned as in the past we have seen 'issues' but the Blues flags were out in force, Petrucci did what a backmarker should do and ensure that he stayed out of the way and did not influence a thing. Excellent job Petrucci.

Snore fest race........so much for improved regs, you could see the fuel computers working.

Big probs for dorna

Where was the snorefest? I'm ....... sick of people saying that motoGP is a snorefest. GO WATCH SOMETHING ELSE!!!!!!! 3 races into the new season and everyone has been close, yet plenty of pinheads like Talpa are calling it a snorefest.

Just because Rossi is mid pack doesn't make it a snorefest!!

Wow, a lot of unhappy campers. Maybe they should give the 3 front guys punctured tyres to make it a bit closer.

Anyway, I enjoyed the race. The predictable part is though, that after 3 races, its the same guys on the podium. Consistency will win this years championship. After 3 races, Stoner has won 2 races plus a podium and is only 1 pont ahead - that's pretty incredible, I think. At the moment, there are no other riders to break them up, so a DNF will really punish the front runners this year.

Despite his best efforts, I don't think Dani is in the running at the moment. I think Stoner and Lorenzo are on a different level to him. Stoner is lightning fast, no doubt about it. He gives reasons and explanations for Jorge gettin' so close, but I'm not sure if its part of his strategy or not. For example, this race was very similar to Jerez where he took the lead, slowly got reeled-in (or appeared to), then broke away at the end. Maybe he is trying to make a conscious effort to manage his tyres better this season. Or maybe Jorge is genuinely catching him and cant' quite get past him. Who knows..

Despite not getting past Stoner, Jorge looks really good on that bike. Sure, the two guys have opposing styles - Stoner is wild and loose, while Jorge is super tight and smooth. But Jorge, from my eyes anyway, appears much smoother, controlled and relaxed this year. Maybe he knows he just has to stay close at the moment. There are plenty of races to go on the calender and as he said, he is "thinking about the championship". Well, there's my rant done with. Can't wait for next race!

Couldn't see the fuel computers from my angle but I could clearly see that Lorenzo's tyre pressure was about 1/3 of a pound low on the left side of his tyre!!!!!!

Precisely. That's why a lot of people would like to see him competitive again. If it had been Rossi up there on say Dovi's bike at Estoril there'd almost certainly be more action. With Rossi dicing it out with Lorenzo there'd have been a show and not a parade.

It was definetly a boring race as I have expected : Stoner, Lorenzo & Pedrosa at the front..and you have a Dovi and Carl...Next year Stoner should be riding the Duke..Rossi should be riding a Jap bike , a Yamaha M1 maybe and Carl on a factory Honda..
