Dovi to Tech3 for 2012

Can't see Dovi ever get a Repsol again. Stoner, Pedro, Marquez and probably SuperSic are all way ahead of him on the list. I wonder if the factory LCR Honda ride he was offered isn't quite as factory as the others. Perhaps he thinks he has a better chance on the Tech 3 bike and perhaps he thinks he has a chance of securing this ride for the foreseeable future. I know its only a one year deal, but if he does perform well, it could be Dovi and Bradley on the 2013 Tech 3 Yams.

Can't see him getting a factory Yamagha ride. Your Gay and Pedro in 2013 perhaps.

Dovi made a wise choice in leaving Honda because as many of you have indicated he has Stoner, Pedrosa, Simoncelli and Marquez after next season... There is a long list at Honda.

By going to Tech 3 next season, for the following he can aim for the factory ride, in place of Ben Spies. Spies is good, but Dovi is better. And Dovi is far better than Hopper please, that dude is known to be an ... with a bunch of issues and is always on the ground. Definitely not at Dovi's evel. He is medium/bottom tier..

So good choice for Dovi, he is very consistent and also very solid. If he were to win one dry race, it could be the fire he needs to take that next step.

Thats debatable. I personally dont think so, but i can see where some would.

Agree with povol that it's not obvious Dovi is consistently faster than Spies on the same bike. This year's Honda may likely be the last factory bike Dovi will ever ride.

Well Dovi won't have to benchmark himself against he's-never-done-nothing Edwards next year... Andres might well not have come out looking so great!!!LOL Cal... easier prey!

First of all, you just showed your ..., if you consider what Hopper had been crashing on, you'd understand, which I seriously doubt you do. You underestimate Hopper because you don’t couple results and meaningful analysis. Dovi would have a hard time beating Alvaro at Suzuki. Second, Dovi has been on the best machine with no discernable difference to his two teammates Pedro and Stoner, and they have consistently handed him his .... And now Crash Test ....... is beating him straight up. Honda gave him his fair shake, in fact, more fair than they have been accustomed & willing to give a teammate sharing a garage with a Darling, as had been the standard at factory Honda for most of the decade. Dovi landed in a good place, half the riders with his talent would be happy to trade their rider for Tech3.

It's a good move for Dovi. It's the best competitive ride available at the moment and likely lends itself to opportunities in the future. The "factory" ride at LCR is probably the same level of factory support that de Puniet had last year. Better than a standard satellite deal, but still nowhere near what Repsol has. At least that difference will be discernible after a few rounds if not at the very start of the year.

Besides, that ride will likely be reserved for Simoncelli in 2013 when Marquez comes over, if Marquez doesn't take that ride this season. Marquez is priority number one outside of Repsol, and Simoncelli is clearly priority number two. As Marquez can't move straight to the Repsol team, and I'd be shocked if Repsol wanted to sack Pedrosa for Simoncelli (who did his best at making himself enemy number one in Spain), regardless of how good of a season Sic has in 2012. My guess is that Pedrosa stays at Repsol through the 2013 season, leaving Marquez a factory spec satellite ride in 2013 and Simoncelli in the same position Dovizioso currently occupies.

While over at Yamaha, he slots in as the heir-apparent to a factory ride should Spies fail to impress on the 1000 (which I highly doubt) or Lorenzo eventually tires of chasing Hondas and pulls a Biaggi (which I believe is a higher probably than Spies failing to impress on a thou', but still pretty low). Besides, they gave Spies a factory spec M1 in 2010 and Edwards had a long string of factory equipment while under Herve's employment. Who's to say Yamaha won't do the same for Dovi should he impress. He doesn't have that choice at Honda. It's a smart move.

All the bikes are new next year so Dovi should at least start the year on pretty equal equipment to the factory gusy. I suppose he is banking on using next year to prove himself again and clim the ladder within Yamaha, as has been rightly said already things at Honda are a bit full. I think it might come down to how his style works with a Yamaha over a Honda. As far as Tech3 goes, they've done well to pick up the best rider on the market

Where dose Bradly Smith fit into all this? Wasn't there something about him moving up in '12 or was it '13?

Jumkie I totally agree with you on this one........You guys under estimate Honda. These guys don't give a .... how good you are, if they think another rider might be better in the near future they will can your ......look at Biaggi? (that was sabtoge by one man not liking the guy) Hopper is a different rider this time around and he has not been crashing in BSB and he is riding the wheels off the GSXR, so I say bring Hopper in and lets get ready to Rumble in 2012

I suppose the correct question would be 'where does crutchlow fit into all this?'.

I did say this somewhere in an earlier post or different thread perhaps...Brad certainly has a 2013 seat. Dovi has a one year deal with Tech 3 and Cal now effectively has a one year deal. Pressure will be on Mr Crutchlow in 2012 to perform and keep his seat.
