2023 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia

Eh, he finished barely 3 tenths ahead of that never-has-been dude on the Aprilia that this forum always wants to fire.
What a difference a day makes. Yesterday Jorge was the arch saint of the church of Ducati. Today people are praying to Pecco again. Yesterday Brad was the victim. Today he is the villain.
Bittersweet for Mav. Barely missed being a race winner for 3 different manufacturers, but still a solid result. Fabio!! Where did that come from? Hero of the race. Another couple of laps and he might have taken the race home since Mav and Pecco were trying to preserve melting rubber. The race definitely provided a close finish and plenty of championship intrigue. Not a bad show this week.
Still can't determine the cause of rider befuddlement. Sure, the track was resurfaced and dirty offline, but people were crashing like crazy. Seems like India broke the seal or something. The riders became less conscious of making mistakes when everyone was screwing up. Maybe the key to unpredictable racing is rotating tracks every year, rather than racing 44 races at 22 tracks each season.

You're forgetting the part where he started from 13th. The race feed gave this little tidbit that it was the first time since Melandri in 2006 that a rider has won a dry race from that far back. Regardless of the competition, that's no small feat.

I can get on board this. If Pecco wins the championship today was a defining moment. He overcame a poor quali and losing the points lead the day before. He stepped up today.

Not to split hairs overmuch, but the comparison is not as apt, in that Melandri did it on a much less competitive machine. Pecco did it on the best prepped Factory Ducati in the field. I'm sure desperation helped.

What about when someone ..... up his race? The lack of consistency in giving out penalties is ridiculous.
Jorge pulls a Pecco. 
Pecco has a knack for performing well when his back is against the wall. What a start by Martin.
Quatararo gets the most out of the M1 but Vinales great in holding him off.
Big kudos to Alex Rins and Bez and Marini for getting pole. That's got to be painful.

MM has to be counting the days until this nightmare ends. I know I am and I'm not a huge MM fan but MotoGP is so much better with him at his best.

Very impressive showing from Quatararo, have they improved his bike recently, nice to see him on the podium again.
Vinales has had flashes of brilliance this year, he seems to have improved his starts, if they could get him to be more consistent with results perhaps he could be a real dark horse next year !

So Pramac and Martin choose a soft front knowing that it's a blazing hot track. They probably did because they weren't starting out front. But they got too greedy. The championship rival was still behind them. So the start wasnt critical. They blew it with the tire call.
Yes i agree, but he was correctly penalised twice for ramming 2 other riders. The issue is a lack of consistency with regards to his sprint race being destroyed and AE got no penalty but still does not excuse BB bad moves in the full race.

Simon Crafar pointed out a difference in the contacts that made some sense to me. In the sprint race AE crashed and it was a result of the crash that BB was taken out. BB just ran into the other 2 in overly ambitious moves and kept riding.
You could argue AE was also overly ambitious but he was already penalised in terms of race result by being on his arse.

I'm wondering if the crash and some other Ducati crashes when by themselves is related to front tyre temperature? IE Martin felt comfortable with his lead so eased up to save the tyres resulting in the front tyre cooling.

Exactly. Finishing second would have been a good result before the race, let alone in retrospect. He was doubtless on a huge high after his recent performances, but sometimes you just need to accept the cards you are dealt.

You are right. Brad apologized on social media for both incidents. He is class. These were justified but some of the penalties he has received were not. RD owes him a few.
