Dovi to Tech3 for 2012

Reeks of....???

I hope he does really well, and if he does get the Yamaha factory seat in 2013, i hope he burns the .... out of honda

Why don't you like it. It looks like he had a shot on another factory honda and turned it down for a chance to be on the yamaha factory team or possibly another factory team with all the contracts that are ending next year. He might also know something we don't about how Honda operates. I think as long as he does good on the tech3 he could have a shot to pick a factory bike and one that is competitive under the coming format. He might even end up on a CRT in the future with dorna making sure they end up being competitive. Spies better look out, Yamaha is going to replace him if he doesn't start putting in better races and I'm sure Dovi took this ride with those exact intentions. He's probably worth more than Ben in sponsorship too. I have to say this is my favorite time of year in GP.

In his dreams! With Stoner in current form & Marquez being groomed he has no chance. The factory yamahaha team in 2013 will be Lorenzo & Dani.

Shabby treatment by Honda after many years of loyal service...I dont believe Simoncelli deserved a factory seat in front of Dovi.

But perhaps Dovi was demanding too much financial recompense (his ambitions outweigh his talents).

He also did force Hondas hand with this years contracts so he didnt do himself any favours...the Japanese so detest losing face.

Wait unless I am out of the loop, but what money/sponsors does Dovi bring to the table anyway? He has to drop Red Bull now since Tech3 is sponsored by Monster. Even then, wasn't Red Bull just a personal sponsor of his? Do personal sponsors even contribute money directly to the team?

Dovi is doing the right thing -- he has no chances to ever get back on a Repsol Honda, with Stoner and Pedro there, and Marquez in the pipeline. In 2012 then with the advent of the 1000s there will be less difference between factory and satellite bikes, at least at the beginning of the season; and with the intrinsic rev limitations, the power gap of the Yamaha could become negligible.

I agree that Dovi is making the best move that he can make.

My question is what sort of factory support will his bike have?

True. The new 1000's will all be at the same level at the start of the season. But I do recall that Tech 3's team is a hybrid team: Herve has discretion over one seat, while YMC has a great deal of influence as to the second rider.

I trust that Dovi is the YMC pick and Crutchlow was Herve's pick.

I raise this in light of the trickle down of updates from the Factory to the satellite teams. I would hope that Dovi and Crutch get regular updates but history doesn't show that this is always the case.

Dovi may get to race Lorenzo on equal machinery. This will be interesting..
