Casey tells Rossi to 'stop whinging'

By speaking up for himself and keeping a big grin on his face

So, if he wins this year we can say that it "has been his championship winning defining talent"?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE<div class='quotemain'>but he's leading the championship by 44 points or whatever, he's earned the right to be arrogant.
Yeah, but me personally, I respect a rider a lot more if he can be leading a championship by that much or even win a championship and stay level-headed and not become arrogant. You may earn the right to be arrogant, but thats no reason to be arrogant.

Agreed, but I can't remember the last champion who wasn't arrogant, especially in recent times. Rossi, Lorenzo, Biaggi, Doohan...

I would also question Burgess' comment on the situation................. "The tyre rule has not been the main reason for Valentino not winning races this season," he said enigmatically Sure - falling off doesn't help but the bike has been on the pace so if it's not the tyres, what is it ? Are you saying Rossi has lost his mojo Jerry ? Are you saying Casey is just better than Rossi ? Of course it's the tyres - they're falling to bits man.

Well he did say the tire rule was not the reason. He did not say the tires weren't part of the reason.

At the same point in time last season (after 11 races) Rossi was down by 51 points to Hayden. He came back to lead Hayden by 5 point going into the last race.

The big difference this year is Stoner is just flat out beating Rossi. His lead has not come from a weird set of circumstances.Last year Nicky had like 7 strait podiums and 2 wins heading into summer break.Stoner has six wins and leads by less points but has been more dominant than Nicky was at the same point in the season. That tells me Rossi has had a better first half than he did last year and still finds himself in a deep hole.Self doubt has to be starting to creep in with Rossi, thats why he is looking for excuses. Its going to take some awful luck on Stoners part for Rossi to get back in this thing, but 2 dnf's and its wide open.Last year when Nicky got the job of parts testing the second half of the season is when his lead evaporated. You can bet Ducati is not going to be that stupid. If there is testing to do,you can bet that will fall on someone elses shoulders.

.....to say the rules are spoiling it for the fans is tosh - it's only spoiling it for the Rossi fans - like me

At last, thanks Baldy, you're a proper bloke!!!

I can understand Rossi fans not being happy, but listen to Baldy because this is the voice of reason IMO.

Casey of all people should realize that if Ross is bitching about tires than maybe he does have a point and is not just whining.
After all wasn't it him who had problems keeping seat side up with Michelins.

Sure, but why not kick him whilst he's down. The boot has been on the other foot before (remember Sete?)

If I left my home as a teenager to go to another county, dedicated my life to motorcycle racing, rose to the top of the sport and was leading the championship with 6 wins in the season I might feel damn proud of myself also. Can you imagine the self confidence he has to have had. It's not arrogance when you are the best it's confidence.

Casey … “But he’s got a better chassis then me … everyone knows how good the Yamaha handles”
#46 … “ Look at the Ducati horsepower … I fight hard and he just blasts past me on the straight”!
Casey … “He has a dedicated team mate as a tyre tester … I’ve never had that luxury”
#46 … “We have had some BIG BIG problems”
Casey … “He has JB in his corner… the best in the business”
#46 … “His bike is red so it must go faster” … “our sponsors insisted our bike is mainly blue and has funny colours 3 times this year”
Casey … “He has a lot more experience and earns a lot more money”
#46 … He is married … I wish I was in a stable relationship … it is affecting me!
Casey … “He earns lots of money and has models chasing him … was I stupid?”

Mind games, complaining or whinging call it what you like.
It's all good for the sport, cause it gets people talking about it, interested in it, watching it and eventually coming to see it track side.

Another point to add.. Last year when Nicky won the title, he rarely beat Rossi on the track and rarely battled with him one on one for a race win (did he ever?)

This year, Stoner has out-ridden Rossi (regardless of tyres, horsepower, whatever ........ Rossi fans wanna come up with) on more than one occasion and I think that is why Rossi is more threatened than last year..

Apparently at the day of champions before Donington, Rossi was out on stage infront of the crowd and knew Stoner would be on stage after him. So what does The Doctor decide to do? He hypes up the crowd, gets them cheering and going crazy, then quickly exits stage right. Stoner walks out onto stage to a bevvy of boos and jeers because 'they want Rossi'
<
That in itself is when the mindgames started (accodring to a British journo interviewed on a show called 'RPM' here in Aus.)

I say good on Stoner for giving some back, this championship needs some spice and some rivalry.. Bring it on!

The worst thing about this year is that a lot of the time, tyres have been such a big factor in determining the outcome of the races.

Michelin and Bridgestone have both had their good days and their bad days. The problem is that when either one has an advantage then the two main title contenders have been miles apart so the racing has not been as exciting as last year for example.

There have still been some awsome races when the tyres have been fairly even though such as Catalunya.

Agreed. None of the top contenders would be anywhere if they didn't have complete self belief that they could win. They are all 'arrogant'

I don't think Casey's comments are a result of arrogance he's simply stating that the rules are what they are. Stoner mentioned Rossi as he has been the one rider to publicly state the rules are no good. Who the .... else was he going to talk about? I haven't heard much from any other riders regarding the tyre rule, except Edwards who said

"Michelin used to bring out the magic tyres on Saturday afternoon or Sunday in the warm up, and we don't have that advantage anymore. I think it is hurting the Michelin side at the moment." Boo ....... hoo.

Rossi on Tyres
Rossi on Tyres 2

Complain about the tyre manufacturer not the ....... rules. Michelin aren't doing the job, simple.

Rossi said after his defeat in America he would consider proposing changes to the tyre regulations. Now thats ....... arrogant.

didnt rossi say to biagi "stop whinging" aswell??

how is stoner leading by 50 points any different from when rossi won the championship with the best bike for 4 years with a margin of 50 to 100 points??

what a farking hypocrite

rossi go get some more egg on your face

Leaving aside questions of Stoner's arrogance or lack thereof in general, on the specific question of the tyre regulations which started the discussion on this thread anyone in Stoner's position would be publically vocal.

Rossi's profile and influence are such that Stoner and Ducati may fear he could actually get the tyre regulations changed, and they are well aware they have not won the title yet. In fact any public comments by either Stoner or Ducati regarding the possibility of winning the title that I have seen have been very subdued, so I guess Stoner must have the ability to imply arrogance.

Casey has every right to tell Valentino to put up or shut up, how many more excuses are we going to hear for why Valentino isn't winning this year. The reason he isn't winning is because somebody is riding better than him, end of story.

Eh, i dont think so....Maybe Rossi should just like it or lump it but you cant say tyres isnt having an affect, albeit a negative affect on Rossi's season, there is noway Stoner is 30secs quicker in a GP through pure skill.Ok Stoner has beaten him on a level laying field this season and fair play to him, he's rapid but he isnt outriding him.

It would of been interesting to see Sir Whinealots reaction if the Bridgestones were as pish as the Michelins this season....
