Can Stoner retain his title?

I was suspecting Rossi had felt preassure from the last race and on,especially when Stoner did so well in the practice sessions here in Assen.I think that was part of the reason Rossi did the mistake.
As Rossi probarbly has more insight than us on this board about most things there is probarbly a reason why he has said he can't concider Stoner out of the championship.
I sure hope it's going to be close in the end.

Short answer yes, long answer also yes. But in all seriousness it will be very close between CS and Vale. I don't think Valentino will make any more mistakes this season and I don't foresee CS having anywhere near the trouble he's had in the first half. Should be a real tight battle. And that's before you factor in the current points leader. Should be a spectacular finish.

questions is will Chokie sign a new contract with yamaha, or will he delay, DEMANDING they make his bike better... will he hint at retirement to save face.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Pinky @ Jun 29 2008, 01:25 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>yes he can and will, all he needs to do is win every second race of the season. and have rossi and dani split the other, and hopefully horhey can come into the mix somewhere too.

coming back from 50 point deficit to rossi who will probably choke again before the seasons up, it will be better than winning last season
Dude your ...... funny. I love valentino but there are so many that would take it up the ... from him that I hope he loses with Pedrosa in a gravel trap. I just hope he didn't sign .... with Yamaha and goes to Ducati. I know fat chance but hey that is my dream. Love it baby Stoner has a new found chance.

If teh coverage I watched is true, the VR was the only one in his team so concerened with Stoner (although I do suspect that Burgess would have been) as the commentators said clearly that VR's team were not concerned with CS but with DP's results prior to teh race.

Now, before anyone jumps up about that, it is something that I would fully agree with as no rider or team will consider a DNF as being in the future for a season. So, at that stage VR had 45 points over CS and were I in his shoes, then at that point my main opposition was DP.

I think he can. Two GP's ago it maybe didn't look like that, but now anything is possible. He won two races in a row, and he did it in a dominant way (like last year). So, I'm definitely not counting out Casey. In a straight battle on track I rate Stoner higher than Dani. Dani is great, but in a straight battle with Rossi, I'd give Valentino the upper hand, but Stoner can actually beat Rossi in a battle, like he showed last season. At the moment Dani is leading the standings, and I think he has good chances to win Sachsenring again!! I have no idea who will win the title, but it can be any of those three guys (Valentino, Casey or Dani). Maybe not all the races are that spectacular, but the fight for the title is!!

Yes Stoner has the ability to defend his title...but sorry Pinky, Rossi will win this season...

I hope you're right! At first I (and most others I'm sure) thought Casey would walk away with the title. He dominated Qatar, and Rossi looked pretty average. But then he fought back, and got better and better. And at some point Casey looked average, and now he's showing us he can still win dominantly!! It's gonna be an interesting fight this season. I think (hope!!) Valentino will win it again. Not only because I support him, but also because he lost two times in a row, and a lot of people said he couldn't do it anymore, so I want him to prove them wrong!!

Pinky you keep repeating that Stoner has gained back 50 points I think you will find its about 25, I'm not saying he wont or that he wont win the championship but I think you should put your .... back in you pants, relax and take off your Stoner love glasses and see things how they really are

I'll wait a few more races before I make any prediction

And Rossi will left you to dead...

I think rossi is still the favourite. Might take a while to decide the result though, which is all to the good, and how nicky develops the pneumatic engine and whether it it is suited to pedrosa may be influential.

Well done
Now your talking a bit of sense, 8 races to go!!! So stop acting like he has already gained the 50 back

i know he is. and i know it will take til the last race, if not the last few races, before we could call someone the 08 champion...i was actually referring to pinky's remarks which came across to me as if having gain valuable points, stoner is a sure shot for the WC, hence i reminded him that rossi was able to claw back 51 points yet he wasnt the 06 champion
