It could be that Cal shows up at Ducati at the right time. If Ducati has a good solid plan in place and is able to execute it with precision, then Cal could find himself at the sharp end of the stick instead of the ...... one. We all know that it is possible.

That depends on how long CC sticks around. IMO, raging success in 2014 seems 'rather unlikely' (probability roughly equal to squadrons of flying pigs bombing my yard with sacks of $100 bills). Given 2~3 years, Ducati (+ Cal) might manage to get somewhere.
The problem is Calvin's gob, and his inability to control it. While he may like the idea of Factory Money, there's no way he has the patience to tour around, lost in mid-pack, with Dovi for long. I suspect that by late 2014, Calvin will be getting very frustrated and will commence some serious whining and throwing of toys. If, via an unexplained miracle, the bike comes good shortly thereafter, all is well. Otherwise, "It's just a matter of time" until he's shown the door.
