<span style="font-family:Verdana, 'Lucida Grande', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px;text-align:left;background-color:rgb(238,242,247);I'm not 100% convinced yet. I'll believe it when I hear it from @calcrutchlow himself...

Is this the same Cal that whined about not having the best brakes and now he is willing to settle for a sub standard bike?

Rolling on the floor over this lame brain move

If Cal signs for Ducati it will be from shear desperation (or shear financial gain)

Sure on BBC Coverage Earlier they Said 100% Cal not at Yam nxt yr

OR YAM Offered him .... / no contract

Surely Cal can make the Ducati work, I mean look at all of the other riders that made it work.  If Cal goes to Ducati, he's just cruising around for a paycheck right?

Pffft......... Ducati!

Cal don't do it bud

Three holes in the ground

Could be that CC has no intentions of a Duc but is only chatting them up in order to get

a better deal at LCR or Tech 3 . Or maybe even a better factory ride.

Cal is lukies man in world. Audio gonna makd it race winner. No dout. Germans turn Ducat around. U here it her firdt.

All sorts of rumours...

<p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:verdana;font-size:small;British media are reporting that Cal Crutchlow won't be getting an upgraded contract with Yamaha for 2014.
<p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:verdana;font-size:small;Crutchlow and his American manager desired a contract two years in length with more pay and an improved technical package. Reportedly, Yamaha suggested a one year contract which Crutchlow turned down.
<p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:verdana;font-size:small;Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo are under contract to Yamaha through the end of 2014.
<p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:verdana;font-size:small;Bradley Smith has a Tech 3 contract through 2014 as well, and Yamaha also reportedly has a deal simmering with Pol Espargaro.
<p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:verdana;font-size:small;So Crutchlow finds himself in nearly the same situation that his then teammate Andrea Dovizioso did in 2012. The choice Dovi' had then was to stay at semi-low rent Tech 3 where the technical package is clearly quite good but the salary numbers aren't near factory level, or take a full factory Ducati ride where the salary is quite healthy but the bike is now on its fourth season of largely struggling. Dovizioso chose Ducati and has largely spent 2013 looking like someone shot his dog. He can, however, now afford to buy an entire kennel of expensive dogs if he so desires.
<p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:verdana;font-size:small;If Crutchlow does sign with Ducati for 2014 it will be an interesting situation to observe. When Valentino Rossi left Ducati he said that the difference between Ducati and Japanese factories is that when a rider tells a Japanese factory that a part of the bike is flawed and needs fixing that the Japanese take the criticism to heart and start finding solutions. At Ducati, Rossi said, criticism was met with hurt feelings and questioning the rider's reasoning.
<p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:verdana;font-size:small;Now apply Cal Crutchlow's very frank and public manner of criticism to the Ducati environment Rossi described.
<p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:verdana;font-size:small;While it does sound like a rider manager drafted story, designed to inspire a bidding war, the very best rumor in the paddock here at Laguna Seca is that there is a possibility of Cal Crutchlow joining LCR Honda in 2014.
<p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:verdana;font-size:small;Current rider Stefan Bradl does have a contract with Honda for next year, yet Honda has not yet fully exercised their option on Bradl. With LCR using a top level satellite bike, Honda has full power over who rides it. With a lower-spec satellite bike the team would have more options to control who rides it.
<p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:verdana;font-size:small;The purely speculative story suggests that Honda would remove Bradl from the LCR Honda slot in 2014 and instead slide Crutchlow into that ride in a two year deal.

<span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;Crutchlow’s signature is certainly the most sought after and he has Yamaha, Honda and Ducati still locked in negotiations about his future.

<span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;Yamaha and Tech 3 gave the former World Supersport champion a final take or leave it offer for a one-year deal during last weekend’s Sachsenring race in Germany.

<span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;But the Yamaha proposal is not anything like what Crutchlow is looking for. His request to stay another year at Tech 3 on a YZR-M1 included an assurance that he could move to the factory team in 2015.

<span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;That is not a commitment Yamaha is willing to make, so as each day passes without Crutchlow accepting the Japanese factory’s one-year proposal, the less likely it seems he will be staying to partner Spaniard Pol Espargaro.

<span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;Ducati is putting in a huge effort to try and tempt Crutchlow onto a struggling factory Desmosedici, while rumours that he could be in line for a shock switch to the LCR Honda squad are continuing to pick up serious momentum.

<span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;Honda has still not exercised an option on Stefan Bradl’s contract to keep him in Lucio Cecchinello’s squad, which needs to be taken up by the end of July.
<span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;If Honda do indeed win the race to sign Crutchlow, then Bradl is likely to be Ducati bound given his German nationality and attractiveness to Audi, which owns the Bologna factory.

<span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;Crutchlow once again reiterated in California that he felt the Yamaha offer wasn’t good enough after he scored four podiums in eight races and also took one pole position on the satellite YZR-M1.

<span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;He told MCN: “At the moment the option they (Yamaha) have given me is not good enough so I will wait some more time. It is clear that the option is not as strong as some of the others. I don’t believe the deal they offered me is justified. I believe I am worth a lot more to them and not just on the basis of the salary. I am talking in general in terms of publicity and fighting for the championship. I am talking about the whole package like the bike, the contract length and the salary.”

<span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;Asked by MCN whether the option to join LCR Honda was a serious one and not just talk, Crutchlow added: “Who said there was an option with Honda? We are talking to everybody and whether that is a strong option I don’t know. I don’t know how far Bob (Moore – Crutchlow’s manager) is down the line with them but I haven’t seen a press release saying Bradl’s re-signed at the moment. I believe I am in a strong position though.  I think everybody wants it wrapped up by Indianapolis but it is not that easy. I am happy to wait but it won’t be too long.”

Didn't Crutchlow pull the 'Ducati want me move' last year?

IMO, it is a tactic designed to get more interest from Yamaha and Honda by use of the 'imminent signing' ruse to get them to raise funds and/or get the paper in front of him with pen ready.

I really do want to like Calvin, but this contractual 'Crying Wolf' crap, repeated several times a season, and general stupid+whiny persona make it difficult.

There's a small voice in my head that would like to see ALL the factories call his bluff and just ignore him.  ;)

Totally agree geo. I believe he wont do any better on a factory yamaha than what he is doing now. Whilst he still has pedro, lorenzo and marquez around, he isnt going to win any wc's.

It looks like, no matter what ruses he pulls, Yamaha has put a deal on the table and if he doesn't like it, tough.

It's hard to argue against it. Other than a factory-supported Honda, they are the best game in town.

I think it is like any contractual negotiation - the incumbent will try and push his strengths to the front, the company will point out a few things they aren't happ with, but at the end of the day, they are the ones with the job and the money and all the bargaining chips.

If it is only money Crutchlow is after (which after all his years racing, it would be hard to argue that he doesn't understand all that writing on the wall that points to him being in the top 5, but no championship) he would be crazy to turn down the kind of money he is likely to earn at Ducati.

Sure, us purists might think that he should be only about the sport and that 'selling out' for a payday somehow sullies him, but to look at it from another perspective, it's his job.

And like anyone looking to get a better job, it's better to go with the guys offering the nice flat, the company car, the full medical and the tens of thousands a month than to stay with Tech3 and struggle for parts, stay in 3 star hotels, fly economy and end up with a great rep for struggling against adversity, or take the millions in the bank and the kudos that goes with being a factory rider - one of only 12 in the world.

Me, I would say '.... the purists, show me the money', but then, I am a mercenary .....

It seems there is an inherent difference between the New World and The Commonwealth over this.

Americans deplore anyone calling publicly for better working conditions, more pay, a level playing field, whereas us colonials and the Auld Firm from the motherland see what he is doing as sticking up for himself, see it as him sticking it to the man to get a better deal.

I like him. I think he has a lot of balls to say what he thinks and to stand up for what he believes, but you lot see it as whining... different strokes.

The problem is that he seems to have some sense of entitlement, which I really dislike. He thinks he is better than Bradl, a Moto2 WC who focusses on letting his riding do the talking. Him and his fans are constantly talking about it "only being a matter of time before he wins a race", when to me it looks like he has never really come close. He thinks the Factory bike is better than his Tech3 bike, yet in the rain or when Lorenzo is badly injured, he still can't beat him.

And to top it off, he makes out like every team in the world is demanding his services when really, it probably makes no difference to them if they sign Crutchlow, Bradl, Bautista, Espagaro, Redding, etc. Either way, they'll end up with a decent 4/5/6 place finisher.

That was a very romantic post bj.

Tell me though cause I'm not sure : what's the difference between "I wanna be a millionaire! "/ " I need a better bike cuz I'm just better" and whining? Which ideological ideals does cal crutchlow represent? What exactly does he speak out against? Now please do me a favor and don't even go on to portray him as a working class hero or his whining having the same cultural impact as say ali.

Commonwealth?? The brits I know don't have to whine for sympathy so please don't portray moaning as an essential part of British identity
