and Kev.
Now that's a fair comparison. Let's take the most comically unfortunate season for any rider since Sete Gibernau in 2005 and use those statistics without any context.3475601365441732
who let cuckoo back in!?
In races that Spies (factory) and Cal (sat) both competed in last year, Cal beat Spies 9 times, Spies only beat Cal on 4 occasions. Spies did not get on the podium at all, Cal got on the podium twice not once.
Any native English-speaker can win a World Superbike title.3477581365530134
Brits can't ride!
Crutchlow, Toseland, Hodgson, Fogarty - never won a world title???
Or Doohan.3492941366631994
Tell that to to Roberts, Spencer, Rainey, and Lawson.

Or Doohan.
Also, different eras. Not really applicable anymore.

So... are you really back? Or are you just teasing us?

He was a ....... hero on Sunday!
Nuff said!
Shame about the mistake or it could possibly have been another Yam on the podium!

have to agree lil red. we dont know how inferior his bike is to the factory yams but we can be sure it wasn't a better bike than bradls rc and cal beat both rossi and bradl who tested here just a few weeks ago.
that IMO speaks volumes.
i was highly critical of cal getting the tech3 seat in 2011 (not saying he didn't deserve it at all, but you know..) so its nice to see him improve from year to year at a constant and considerable rate.

Rossi praised Cal after the Austin race saying his result with no testing at Austin was very impressive and Cal was better than him on the day.Jorge praised Cals ride in Austin before he praised Markys win yet some on here say Cal is .....

<span style="font-size:14px;If he could brake like Dovi or Rossi, he would be up there even on his current Yamaha.
<span style="font-size:14px;Not so sure the factory bike would make a big difference for his braking, and that's where he needs to be more competitive.
<span style="font-size:14px;His performance at Austin was excellent, but one has to take into account that factory Yamaha rider Valentino Rossi had front brake problems in the race.

maybe he is very good on the brakes, but if you would ask me who carries on the biaggi tradition of going wide when pushing i'd always say crutchlow is his legitamate successor.
needs to get rid of his regular overshooting the braking point before he can seriously incorporate more knife edge braking duels in his riding

Hasn't telemetry revealed that Crutchlow is exceptional on the brakes? And I believe he's been praised by Lorenzo and Rossi for his abilities on the anchors, too. Or are you saying that he's been too hesitant to have a go on the brakes during a race? Because I could agree with that.

Cal brakes very late, but his error rate is still too high. At least this year he seems less prone to crashing, that's a key improvement. If only he could avoid those little costly mistakes.... I like him a lot, he's filling the gap left by Sic.

Ah, now I follow you. Can't argue with any of that, except maybe the bit about Marco—not sure he's got the on-track aggression to fill that gap. Quite the personality, though.
