Hmmm I wonder what's going on. Lot's of speculation for a Lex file entry.
I haven't seen any sessions or the race, and tire information has been very hard to come by now that the control tire is in place.
So far we know that they had in fact banned dual compound tires. I had a thought the other day about the tire situation in 2008, and I'm starting to believe they may have enforced parity between the manufacturers by controlling the weight of the tires.
If Bridgestone had in fact stiffened the tire carcass by using an expensive exotic material like carbon fiber, it would certainly have been lighter. What better way to outlaw Bridgestone's new tire than to nullify any weight advantage while allowing Michelin to strengthen it's own carcasses by adding extra material?
Anyway, I'm not sure Lorenzo's problems are being caused by any foul play with the tires. For two years running Lorenzo has been mysteriously slow at Jerez. Imo, the Brno problems seem to be part of a pattern for Lorenzo. If there is any conspiracy, it might be that they are actually changing the compounds slightly for the races on Sunday. Why? Because it creates unpredictable results that supposedly improve viewership. What is unpredictable about the most adaptable rider always winning?
Boring race after the Lorenzo crash, but I need to see the races before I critique.
