So ok then, care to contribute instead of mock for a change? Here's one right up your ally, supply us with all of the overwhelming reasons/evidence as to why Yamaha should not hire Rossi again and put Dovi on the Factory bike instead, reasons and evidence that a corporation like Yamaha would consider valid.
Talps, I have to be fair and say that I found your comment regarding the need to remove bias (below) to be quite humorous from someone who so often and so openly displays their own personal bias towards anything that is critical of Rossi be that deliberate, implied, imagined or perceived criticism.
One must inevitably remove ones personal bias and look at the facts;
But, your overall point is valid in that Yamaha as a business must make a decision based upon their business reasoning and for this purpose alone a re-collaboration with Team Rossi would be an extremely attractive proposition for any number of reasons, most if not all that you have mentioned.
No doubt Rossi offers a lot of positive to them, but along with the positive may well come some negative that will need to be weighed up by Yamaha, but no doubt IF Rossi wants Yamaha it will happen.
Now, the negative of which I speak is not major, but more so the need to manage what would be competing egos and demands of two highly strung yet competent riders, both of whom would think nothing of taking points from the other and both of whom would demand number 1 treatment within Yamaha the manufacturer. We are seeing this year the difficulty of a manufacturer in handling two supremely talented riders by way of development directions as HRC now must face the dilemma of direction and resource pooling to win the championship (ie. at what point do they ask Stoner/Pedrosa to play second fiddle to the other).
But, you have asked mental to provide some reasons as to why Dovi should be signed and so I thought I would throw some into the mix for reasoned debate
- Dovi provides a younger rider (not as young as JL) and as such may well provide a longer term prospect for solidity and a stable team environment in an ongoing capability
- Dovi does have some sponsorships (not comparable to Rossi) but may open up Yamaha for potential Italian sponsors that are as yet not associated to Rossi and yet wish to compete. In short, he may provide a cheaper alternative option for competing businesses (those competing with Rossi's existing sponsors)
- Dovi is a very good, consistent yet fast rider who is on the cusp of the 'fab four' in terms of speed and has been the 'best of the rest' for a few years so is recognisable and reliable
- Would be a cheaper purchase than would Rossi as he has less in terms of entourage, engineers etc.
- Would compete with JL but likely not at the same level (that is hypothetical as IMO Dovi would be better on a factory Yamaha than on the Tech3, just not sure how much better) and as such would not be taking to many points away from JL.
There are of course negatives to Dovi as well, not least of which is the lower profile and less attractive media savvy but given that all would seem a foregone conclusion anyway the discussion and points are likely mute.
