Ben Spies to leave Yamaha

Kroppo & the other credible sites are just quoting from the initial reports. Go & read Motomatters piece on where Rossi is going, it's a thorough examination of the sources, not a confirmation.

I have read Krops article. I have not said at any stage that Rossi IS going to Yamaha with Ducati. What I have said is that Spies is walking because of the ........ manipulations that are going on. Just because Ezepelta may fail in his attempt (he fails at everything so no great surprise) doesn't mean that he hasn't tried. Krop has far more brain power to think through the ramifications than Ezpeleta has and therefore I think the speculation about Rossi's manager/Ezpeleta is right on the money.

Also I don't know what or why Spies is doing what he is doing. I am speculating. Just the same as 100% of the comments on here. I just wish that those making comments on my comments had the comprehension skills to actually interpret accurately what is said.

Further Digger, there are reports on many credible sites that Ezpeleta has been in talks with Rossi, Yamaha and Marlboro. These credible sites are speculating about Ezpeleta trying to get Marlboro to back Rossi's switch to Yamaha because Yamaha can't afford Rossi and his entourage.

So please make the statement that Krop and many others need to take their Tin Foil hats off or just shut the .... up and don't comment. You and others keep getting sucked in by a username. Trying reading first, then try and comprehend and if you are unsuccessful with either then just keep your ignorant comments to your self.

You're a sensitive boy arent you???

that to me says that you think he was sacked to make way for rossi. read it ........

Well thats why I think you are deaf dumb and blind, lack any type of comprehension skills and are reacting based on a username.

As far as I know Rossi has not signed with Yamaha and Marlboro have not signed to sponsor Yamaha. What I do know is that Spies has stated that he is LEAVING Yamaha which is what this Thread is actually about, the tweets from Spies. How you can interpret what I said as Spies being sacked says nothing about me and everything about you. Dumb arse.

However it remains speculation.

Could be be taking a year off in 2013 to test/develop the new Zook? After all if its a Yamaha replica who better to develop it than an ex works yam rider?

I'm probably way off but my first thought was Yamaha telling Ben he can stay if he gives Houseworth the boot and him telling them to .... off. Among other issues.

Spies was one of the riders openly vocal in support of Stoner flipping the bird to the whole dog and pony show.

Connection there anyone ??

I believe there is a strong connection with Stoner on this. Spies and Stoner are pretty tight by paddock standards and you know there had to be some talks between them concerning all that GP has become and the difficulties they are having with it. Couple that with the torrid season he is having (much of which I believe is not of his own doing...more to do with the natural dynamics of his situation of being #2 and ALL the kicks to the balls you have to take as the #1 test mule).

You have to believe Spies and Stoner are on the same page and both decided to take the initiative and stick it to the "powers that be" on their own terms. For Spies to have made this announcement on the eve of the US rounds given all the dog and pony PR scheduled for the next few weeks of racing...that took a lot of balls.

You don't play that kind of hand unless you are either stupid or know your are going to have the last laugh.

Did Yamaha actually make Spies another offer though? If he was not made an offer then it is the same as being sacked. Not sure why folk are all saying e opted to leave?

I think you are right and that is what actually happened.....no offer coming and they told him that was the case, and they gave him the chance to make an announcement first....so he could save some face with his personal sponsors (whomever they are).....

IF he is going to Suzuki to make an attempt at GP return in 2014 or even next year then I would say his results are going to be even worse fro the rest of the season....since Yamaha wont want to give Suzuki any info via Ben riding an even more evolved M1 for the rest of the season.....

For the US market too it is more palatable to not hear that Yamaha sacked Spies.

Yeah - what a tough deal Spies has had with Yami. Given all he needed to win a WSBK championship in his rookie year. Given a very competitive Tech Trois bike in his rookie MGP year. Two years on (arguably) the best MGP factory bike. Oh yeah - his teammate is the better rider and the best shot the factory has to win the championship so he got some parts testing duties... .... - that's never happened in motorsports before.
