Air Asia Fiat 2011

I've heard that Marlboro are the only title sponsor that is confirmed so far for the factory Ducati team

Well that would be unfortunate. As ive said many times before i would consider Rossi to be a sell out if he returns to tobacco money.

He's already taken tobacco money before, do you feel going back makes a significant difference?

I don't think its too big a deal, i think it was good of Rossi to have his ideals and principles in the early days but he is older and wiser now. The rules on tobacco sponsorship are much stricter than they were back when he started, and anyway what good is his word when he's been photographed smoking anyway

Cash Is KINGin these hard Times

Best case would be a red Marlboro bike - they can't show their name anyway - with a white side panel F-I-A-T. After all Fiat was never with yamaha for JL or Spies. Yamaha would then be even deeper in the .... for 2011 and 2012 with no development racer and less cash. Not good for MotoGp, but an unfortunate looming reality.

Has anyone heard anything more firm on this? I wonder if Fiat will go to Ducati.

I was wondering why Stoner has picked up a 2 year deal with Iveco a Fiat owned company. Maybe that will be Fiat's "in" with MGP now?

Anyone seen the new Fiat Ducato van?

This could be something or nothing, but it sounds an awful lot like Fiat Ducati to me!

Um ..... that ain't a new van, the Ducato has been around for quit a while even here is Aus.

1981 they came out

Ok how does this sound:

Rossi goes Ducati but most of the $$ come from Malboro ......... so Fiat is dropped.

Lorenzo being Spanish doesn't really want FIAT nor they him as their primary rider, so Lorenzo and Spies get Air Asia.

Repsol still with Honda for Dani and Dovi ......

after

Stoner gets Iveco backing and forms a HRC Iveco ( FIAT ) team? Stoner already had some backing by Alfa so maybe it can't be Fiat but can be Iveco so it doesn't look like he "likes" 2 car brands at the same time.

Apart from some past noise (later effectively retracted) from Rossi against tobacco I really don't think that in today's economic climate that any rider has a say in whom he "likes or not" JL not "wanting" the largest Italian vehicle manufacturer, but preferring "Google quote" Air Asia is a low cost local Malaysian airline really doesn't bear discussion. Bottom line will be less funding. The thing with Stoner and Ducato is old & after all Ducati were the first to really benefit from Magneto Marelli - a Fiat subsidiary. I'd bet on Marlboro and Fiat money supporting Ducati

I thought FIAT was going to follow Rossi over to Ducati as a support sponsor to Marlboro as the main sponsor.

I wonder if FIAT had stayed with Yamaha....would they run a Chrysler bike for Spies to pair up the american rider/auto company for the US market??
<

Has there been any other car companies that have sponsored a motorcycle team in the past...yes, I know Honda sponsors a few teams
<
....but any others over the years???

Dont take it too personally,

theyr all sold out the minute they come in this sport, and many times they say things for the sake of that moment.

i dont think that would be his first time to do something he doesn't like, or to say something and do another later. We all have had this in our life, when we said i will Never Ever do this again, but after a while we did it. maybe at that moment he had another reason or that now has less power, but anyway, i dont think he had/has much power to say anything about Duc sponsors this time.

We've all made young and idealistic statements at some point. I remember when I was 18 swearing blind that I"d never get a mobile phone as they were for used car and real estate sales ......s. Can't live without it now.

Maybe Marlboro is locked in for 2011 but that doesn't mean 2012 necessarily.

To be honest I don't really care. My point is that if cigarettes are legal, what right does the government have to stop advertising, enforce plain packaging etc. That stuff just damages businesses. If they really wanted to do something about it, make them illegal and police it.

Yeah, because that really worked for alcohol.
<

I'm sure it reduced the number of drinkers and the amount of alcohol fuelled violence - which is becoming a major issue here in Oz.

Make the punishment harsher and enforce it. Politics means that this will never happen. It's only a cigarette after all...

My point is that government either thinks it is ok or doesn't. They are sending out mixed signals the way the laws are currently.
