You are right, i was rude and it wasn't really necessary. However, i think you are wrong. Abu Dhabi's circuit layout is known to be terrible for overtaking opportunities, unlike your initial statement, square 90 degree corners are not great for passing at the best of times in F1 and are particularly bad at this circuit which is very 1 line in its nature. Almost no passing has been seen at this track, cars capable of much better lap times are unable to get past, even being driven by Lewis hamilton, Alonso and Koboyashi who are 3 of the sports best overtakers.

actually i think i need to apologize and say you're right!

i just watched the race again and in deed, not much overtaking

but the thing is i think 90 degree and 180 degree turns are great for block passing ?its the easiest way to overtake i think

i don't get why it doesn't really work out, i think it could and should

maybe the truth lies somewhere in between, maybe the circuits ok but we have to accept that its the nature of f1

but as i said, for motogp definatly not , it doesn't seem like a terribly interesting/challenging lap

I think the trouble with this circuit at least is that the big braking zones that should encourage overtaking usually go into a pair of corners making a chicane, but one that is too tight (with an immediate switchback) for cars to go around together, so block passing is near impossible. Also the braking zones in question come from straights that have also started with slow corners, which spreads the cars out as they enter the straight, where a faster corner would allow more oppertunities. I'm thinking like the run to Les Combes at Spa being one of the best passing spots on the calendar, although it is an extreme example.

you're actually right

i guess if the hard braking zones were into hair pins instead of chicanes and made the entry and exit wide for multiple possible lines it would work out great

i find tight chicanes to be annoying and flow killing anyways, worst example would be that 3 corner chicane in singapore oO

Exactly, the hairpin at Hokenheim gets its fair share of passing because once someone gets inside there isn't a lot the defending driver can do about it. Having said that, even at that circuit some drivers require a bit of extra help to get past

haha ,good one!

the thing is i was there and had a great view over the whole motodrom and even though i remember alonso not being too far from massa it looked pretty sure to be massas race, judging from the pace those two ran through those corners.man i respect alonso an awful lot but i'm so happy that that guy didn't win.just the reminder of that race brings my blood to boiling temperature

I know what you mean, i was at Spa in 2008 for what was one of the greatest F1 races in recent times and when the news came through the campsite on Sunday evening that Hamilton had his win taken away, it was just horrible. I'll never forget it, and had Massa won the world title by the margin from that decision i'd have never let it go.

Back to this year thogh, Massa was going to win that GP, and it was so fitting after the comeback from his injury a year earlier. Such a shame, i can see why Ferrari did what they did, and i think team orders should be legal anyway but i felt so sorry for Felipe.

yes it was tragic! talk about being loyal....thats the proof that ferrari isnt part of the mafia, does guys keep their honor

i think they basically shot themselves in the foot there, especiall if they had won the championship because of it!

i thought it was a shame for what they did to rubens and that made it look even sillier when they let michael do the same, but back then it wasn't pissing me off half as much as now!
