Good! Lets get back on track. Aprilia Massimo Rivola is the driving force behind this for good reasons. Read the hack oxley bit here > https://www.motorsportmagazine.com/opinion/motogp/will-ducati-and-dovi-be-axed-qatar-motogp-results

There you will find the connection with Ferrari & Ducati, and the reason for the protest.

I agree with some of the comments after the article, if it does both then the device has to be banned, but as Danny Aldridge had already said it was legal, then Ducati keep the points from Losail, but aren't allowed to use it any more.

Its all bloody politics. Next we will hear that Dorna have banned it but Ducati can keep the points because uncle Caramel has taken a bribe.

If nothing else the appeals people will disallow the protest to discourage more of the same. If Carmelo had any say in the decision - he'd stand firm with Aldridge to discourage challenges to authority and more to the point it's to their benefit for Ducati to thrive in order that they should continue to compete with confidence against Honda and give people a good show. To a zillion dollar business like Dorna it's not about athleticism - it's show biz.

And this is exactly what happened, in my opinion. The flaw in your argument, however, is that they are penalizing weaker teams than Ducati. That makes no sense. They worked for years to get more manufacturers in there. It is no time to favor Ducati, unless they pay you pretty well.

Fill me in. What weaker teams are being penalized?

BTW - ready for Austin?

Aprilia, specifically. Aprilia, Suzuki and KTM generally. Ape asked to use the same thing and were denied.

I ain't ready for sh!t, except for another Chardonnay.

Not getting you. What were they denied???

Although we are told the Aprilia solution wasn't sanctioned, no one has seen it yet apart from the team and Aldridge so we can't know that the design was the same or similar in principle.

If Aldridge denied it's legality but approved Ducati's solution I find it hard to believe they are really that similar. His judgement hasn't been called into question before in this way. Unless of course if during approval Aprilia straight up told him it's primary function is that of a downforce producing device, but I find it hard to believe Aprilia are that stupid.

I didn't get this. Fill me in later.

He was talking to someone else and I was AGREEING with what he said. I don't see anything to insult him, unless he is a Rossi fan and didn't like my Rossi quip. I hope he didn't take it the opposite way, also. Seems really silly to be explaining a simple declarative affirming sentence. Although, people do get really agitated over imagined slanders, around here.

Speculation is that Aprilia did say it was for downforce, while Ducati said it was for cooling. If true, that is really silly. Yamaha said it was for rain, thus they can only run it in the wet. How about you can put wings on the swingarm or you can't? Period!

Funny really to see the back and forth seesawing here. On one had people are bitching about aero and a minute later they’re whinging “But it’s supposed to be prototype racing!

Same w the whole, Wings are ugly! complaint. Like it’s a beauty contest.

I didn't say you insulted him or there was any slander, just quoting how it seemed to me. so lets just leave it at that :)

Yes it is a prototype race series, but I still stand by my "wings should be banned" after all do we have them on street bikes?
As has been pointed out over the years things make their way from race machines to road use.

I don't see how what we have on street bikes matters all that much. We don't see one tenth of the exotic technology from GP bikes on what we ride on the street. MotoGp is not the R&D department. It's about the ultimate racing on the best bikes money can buy.

So why for many years do they brag that things we see in racing improve life for street riders, strikes me its like all the bloody politicians in the world swearing blind they don't mislead the public, we all know its lies.
