A world without Valentino Rossi

The overzealous followers can be ignored... What difference can they make? Speaking of vilification, how would you call the insults that are freely thrown on Stoner these days? "Vilification" describes it perfectly in my book.

Jarno, just miodified it a little to emphasise a differnt view that is equally relevant today

edit: Stoner in this instance as Lorenzo et al have not yet upset the throng this year

Hi everyone, this is my first post here after lurking for quite a while. I thought id just chuck this thought out there.

First up, I am a Rossi fan. I dont know if you would call me a "bopper", but I do like my dude to win
<
On the other hand, I do like Hayden, and I do hope one day that he puts it all together again and moves to the front of the pack. I also like Edwards, and dont mind watching Randy ride like a ...... maniac too. I have nearly zero time for Stoner. The dude is an absolute demon rider, and I respect him for that, but other than that, I couldnt care less. Just thought id get that out of the way
<

Anywho, with all this Rossi hate getting around, i thought i might put this thought into your heads. What would motorsport, maybe even more sports than just that, be like if Rossi had never become a bike racer. Mr Squiggles post about how times are going to go back to the way they use to when everyone loved each other and loved all riders equally struck a nerve with me. .... that ..... If thats what the population want, then I feel sorry for them. Maybe everyone should wear beige cardigans, and have sensible haircuts. Maybe we all should have velcro strapped shoes, all root for the same footy team and eat the same thing for dinner every night. Can you imagine 140,000 beige wearing motorcycle fans on the side of a european race track, screaming "yay everyone!!" Not real impressive huh?

Rossi, like it nor not, is not just MotoGp, he is motorsport everwhere. Can you imagine what the field would be like if he'd taken up soccer instead. It would be safe to say that the riders would be sterile helmet wearing robots, they way they used to be. The rule about riders having their helmets off on the grid was spawned during Rossi's era, to get the fans to get up close and personal with the riders. There would be almost zero waving to the camera. In days past, the thousand yard stare on the grid was what it was all about. As minute as it sounds, just that little stupid wave that they do, gets the fans that bit closer with their favourite riders. That influence has even passed into other forms including car racing. The time of the steely eyed athlete has passed, as they have to sell their brand now. Whats the best way to do that? Get in the way of the camera.

After race antics, like it or not, is here. I pity the fool that didnt giggle when Rossi ran into the porta dunny. Do you think Lorenzo would be the same dude if Rossi hadnt turned up? Not likely. From what I understand, his dad was breeding him into a stone cold racer. Then he broke away from his father and became what he is today, and that, is directly influenced by valentino rossi.

Again, like it or not, the controversy that always surrounds him (vale), is always a talking point. What the .... would you guys talk about if he wasnt racing? What is the best method to press your beige trousers? The guy is the "show", and the show will never be the same again. In 100 years when he is dead and gone, there will always be another bloke who will try to emulate him, and so he has changed the face of sport forever.

All Im saying is, that even if you ....... hate everything about him, which I know, there are a couple of people in here that do, and even if you couldnt give a crap about his world titles, you still cant deny the fact that everything that surrounds him has made life entertaining for everyone. Even if you cant stand the fact that he went and apologised to stoner, for example, you must agree that it gave you a bit of entertainment, and that, in my eyes is what life is all about.

Life without colour, would be a very ....... boring thing.....

Hi and Well come.

I dont see some of the things like you do, but i still understand you. Dont worry about haters, they are everywhere. there isn't any successful sport persons who ísn't hated by some people. (depending on how much they win)

People have rights to like or dislike anybody, but that wont change anything in reality, Rossi will someday go away, and then there will come another devil rider in his place, a rider who also will win most races and championships, and therefor will be hated by many. That's how it has always been in sports.

Gaz, Stoner was vilified in past years, especially in 2009. Now he's in good shape, everybody speaks highly of him and his skill.

By the way, I always supported him even when they were all calling him a ..... etc. etc.

"everybody speaks highly of him"? Hahaha, reality, according to J4rno.

I've got whole case of cheap champagne ready to be un-corked when "The Kentucky Squid" is finally out of MotoGP.

As far as Rossi goes, I don't quite yet want him to retire..... would love to him get more azz whoopin' before he hangs up his helmet.

Clearly Hayden finishing up isn't that important to you otherwise you would buy more expensive champagne to really celebrate. You must really want him to stay.

J4rnO - we may be reading different threads then but the vilification continues unabated in here and other forums (as sad as that seems) of riders, Stoner being but one.

All good though as I know you don't partake in it but it is there.

Well this thread asks, what would it be like without VR. However, Wayne G looks like he prefers a world without Karel Abraham.
<
Here is his take on Karel:

Wayne G...on Karel Abraham:

"For starters, this guy shouldn’t even be in MotoGP. He’s done virtually nothing during his years in the smaller classes and why he thinks he can do something in the premier class is beyond me. Making things even worse is that he’s riding arguably the worst bike on the grid. Yes, he’s done better than many expected during pre-season testing – he’s been faster than Elias - but the actual racing will be another matter entirely. Finishing the season with all bones intact should be his number one goal." WG

Well, he was on his way to a 5th, but ran off, and still finished in 7th. 5 other guys went down. I'd say managing in this condition is commendable. Looks like Wayne only had a .... take for Abraham. So what about the guys behind him, should they be out of GP too?

BTW, talking about crap opinions, Crash.net asks regardless of who won, who was the best rider of the race at Jerez? One guy suggested it be Rossi, 160 peeps agreed! Not sure what race they were watching. But at least 120 disagreed.

Explain your 'reality' then... Tell me, who is "vilifying" Stoner this year? The press had already elected him as the favorite for the title, even before the first race. And with good reason. From that point of view, this is the best year for him in a long time. And I'm happy for him.

Focus please Squiggle!! Perhaps you've noticed that you're the first person to respond to shinya in quite while. Don't make that mistake again! Got it?
<

No, Keshav was comparing him to his problematic herpes blister just yesterday
<
<

I don't like Rossi because he's a money hungry self-absorbed eccentric egotisitical maniac who puts on a front to the media to portray himself in a positive light.

Greedy bastaad done ..... all for charity.

I don't see any point you being on here, you clearly have no clue what the .... your talking about, take your views and shove em up your arse as its crap you spout anyway!
