I just hate it when race teams talk a big game about winning and then sign riders or drivers that aren't very good. I hope I'm wrong but i suspect Ducati will sign someone underwealming.

If you want to win as many as possible , you sign Martin or Marquez. Martin is already gone. Now let's see if they sign Maequez.
I do agree that I won't believe it until I see it but I would be shocked if it doesn't happen.

Funny bit about the Pramac-Marc situation that one motomatters commenter uncovered, from the previous year. I didn't know this, and I supposed that Marc had only an issue with the Nietos, but seems like it didn't stop there:

Then Paolo Campinoti concludes with this sentence which will not leave you indifferent: “ I wouldn't have signed Marc Marquez for just one year. For better or worse, there are many VR46 riders in the Ducati world and let's just say the Marquez family is not well regarded "
Basically Marc was saying .... you to several people on the Pramac camp, not just Fonsi.

I would've guessed that Enea had more options than that, that means Maverick will probably re-sign with Aprilia. He could've remained competitive with a satellite Duc but I suppose he doesn't like how he has been treated by Ducati so he takes his business elsewhere. Tech3 is a difficult seat that only Acosta has been able to deal with due to sheer talent, so we'll see.

Campinoti is a ......... But he was just sincere. So seems the VR camp will have to swallow MM on the Ducati official. As well as Pecco. Dalligna is crazy man, hahahahaha. But that will be a dream team.

This battle will be insane. MM is much more talented than Pecco. However, I see Pecco having more than 130 IQ, which is the highest IQ in the paddock for a rider, by far. That will rock. I think Pecco will evolve himself a lot to cope with Marc and we gonna see the fiercest title battle ever. That would be so so awesome.

Pecco will no doubt try to play the PR game well to his advantage, helped by Rossi's tutelage. That didn't work for Rossi, but this Pecco is faster than 2015 Rossi. And then there is the issue of having two aggressive riders going at each other's throats on the track.

Can't wait for 2025.

I just heard on a podcast that the Audi board, owner of Ducati, said they won't want to spend a big portion of the budget on rider salaries. This is another signal that Marquez might not be the one.

Sure, but with this attitude from the Pramac principal it should hardly have been a surprise to Ducati or anyone else that MM wouldn’t want to ride for Pramac.

I love the seeming assumptions that the attitude of Valentino and those associated with him to MM is in any way reasonable and that this should have any influence on which team MM rides for other than the VR46 team. I actually don’t see any reason why Ducati now owned by Audi should love Valentino in any case, he was prancing around the pits at Mugello in full yellow VR46 livery which included a Yamaha rather than Ducati labelled cap.

I will believe MM is on the Ducati factory team next season when I see it confirmed by Ducati in any event, they still have the option of Bastianini who would be the number 1 rider on most teams.

It kind of looks like the talent is conveniently fanning out before the jump to 2027. Yamaha retained Fabio unexpectedly. Then Aprilia acquire a championship contender unexpectedly. Then KTM cleans house and signs Bastianini. I suppose it could be organic, but some of the moves seem a bit suspect.

Ducati could easily have signed Martin. Marquez doesn’t really have a strategy outside of Ducati because he’s 32 next season. It seems like Ducati let Martin go.

Yeh makes sense. If MM wants to be in a factory team then the Ducati seat is the only one left worth having. I'm assuming that they are using that bargain MM down, however MM will pull a large personal sponsorship income so he may will be OK with accepting a lower salary.

As a side question, who would Ducati take if they don't get MM? That could pose in MM's favour with the $$$ discussions now that Martin and Bastainini are out of the equation

I agree, I don’t think MM had that great a bargaining position, although him at Aprilia or KTM particularly if he brought them more sponsorship might have made either of those manufacturers more formidable in general.

I actually thought there was a significant chance of him being the odd man out, with Valentino cheering on the sideline.

Has Bastianini definitely signed with KTM/Gasgas ?.

Valentino is another .........

Bestia signed for KTM according to Carlo Pernat, and this man knows things.

He might be 31, but the world still revolves around Marc Marquez.

Astounding what the talent of one rider can reap. I don't think Valentino had this much impact on rider decisions.

It's already well established that Marquez is willing to work for less money than other top riders, because winning races is all that he cares about anymore. He already has enough $ for 10 lifetimes. ...., I could live off the proceeds of an auction of the wristwatches he's garnered from pole position wins.
