Because it was. According to this article, Ducati told Martin after the race on Sunday they they were not going to sign him (oh to be a fly on the wall in that conversation!). With Monday (testing) being mostly wet, apparently Martin and Aprilia used most of the day to sort out contract details

I think when the length of Martin’s contract is announced, it will make sense. Sure, he would still be competitive on a 2025 spec Ducati at Pramac, but as no agreement is signed between Pramac and Ducati, there remains the possibility that a Pramac agreement would only be good for one season on the Ducati, opening the way for the possibility of being on a Yamaha in 2026, with Fabio as his teammate, a teammate who potentially would make Martin look like crap by comparison. At Aprilia - he will doubtless have at least a two year contract, and a teammate who will be non-threatening.

Second biggest winner from all this is Brad Binder. Guy perhaps can finally aim to regain his lost form now that his seat seems more secure than before.

Well I am sure all the Ducati sponsors were in town for the races, and I am sure they made their preference known...

As far as KTM / GasGas its the same factory team, there is nothing he couldn't have at GasGas, it makes no difference to Red Bull whhat color the bike is as long as it is a Red Bull bike!

I have a crazy idea....

What if Dall'Igna wanted the best rider of his generation on his motorcycle, as his first priority?

Ducati Corse could have wanted to keep the magnificent trio.

So if Pramac's Gino Borsoi is quoted that they are sticking with Ducati
Marquez red line is factory spec newest edition
Martin red line is the red Ducati
Ducati only able to build four

...and you want to keep Dall'Igna happy....

Then is another outcome possible?

Frankly, I think Gigi's wishes carried the day. All he would have had to do is mention the Lorenzo's debacle to get his way. Or even Casey for that matter.

I was wondering the same thing talking to Jum. Does he keep his current team? Go back to Santi or a new factory one? I'm not sure what he would benefit the most from. The team chemistry at Gresini is phenomenal I don't him to lose that.

I think the issue with Pramac for Marc may have been his sponsors, there may have been conflicts with Pramac's sponsors, and I am sure his sponsors would rather see him on a factory bike.

Tell Jum I'm still waiting for a response from my text 2 months ago lol.

I think if he can't bring Frankie with him, you've got to try and get Santi back with you. I would put it as a necessary thing when you're giving up all your sponsors to ride red. I honestly wish they would have just given him a GP25 at Gresini, but I guess that wasn't really an option looking at how things turned out.

Everyone expects Marques to Ducati now ? I'll believe it when i see it.Petty politics seem to be more important than winning these days. Why else would morbidelli be at Pramac and Perez at red bull.

Marquez at Ducati seems too exciting. It won't happen

Gigi won what ? He lost a good rider. Now they will probably put a boring rider beside Pecco to insulate him. Beast resign or Bez.

I just hate it when race teams talk a big game about winning and then sign riders or drivers that aren't very good. I hope I'm wrong but i suspect Ducati will sign someone underwealming.

If you want to win as many as possible , you sign Martin or Marquez. Martin is already gone. Now let's see if they sign Maequez.
