Looking beyond the scandalous incidents, Iannone‘s stock has definitely risen. Won’t be surprised to see him in the Aruba team if Bautista retires at the end of the season.

Also, statement ride by Bagnaia on equal machinery as all. I’m sure his future teammate has taken note.

The things I usually look for are:

- Are the wheels in line while they corner (eg Lorenzo style) vs backing it into the corner (M. Marquez style)

- Do they hang off the bike more (which means they reduce the lean angle and use a fatter contact patch) like Martin or a more traditional body position like Rins

I'm not sure if this observation qualifies but I remember Dani Pedrosa getting the bike upright very early in corner exit. Maybe it's just me but he seemed to throw that bike up while he was still well off the side. I did not fully appreciate him while he was racing.

Yes, and I guess Razgatioglu must be much better than Bagnaia or MM taking a line through Iannone and Bulega whom he has recently been beating by over 5 seconds in WSBK races.

I hardly recall the existence of this race or any publicity about it in previous years without MM in the field. All the more reason for not making any radical passing attempts in what is basically an exhibition race though, Bautista probably rode the most appropriately.

You and I both.

Rewatching some of the older races recently made me realize just how special he was. Definitely deserved at least one premiere class title.

The commentators for the 2010 125cc championship year said that Dani was a 17-year-old Marc Marquez's hero.

Rumors of Miller being offered Bautista’s WSBK seat.

Wouldn’t be a bad gig for him, Ducati obviously remain fond of him. He might be able to ride the WSBK tyres, I doubt he can ride current motoGP Michelins on any bike. He has even lost the one lap pace he has always had over the last half of the 2023 season and the whole of this season.

As he himself has said recently he has had a fair career, 4 more premier class wins than many riders who have contested the class, and 4th on the list of Australian premier class winners.

This is the most logic move for him, if he's not able to stay in MotoGP. Miller is a GP race winner, and his skillset probably exceeds that of WSBK, but he'll need to learn new tires and adapt his riding style......and he'll be up against Toprak.

It's not as cushy a ride as it would have been if Toprak was still stuck on a Yamaha.

Marquez was on best behavior the last few races in MotoGP. In this race he had free rein to unleash his inner ........ Which he seems to have accomplished splendidly. It’s ok, contract’s already signed.

What a .... move.

My thoughts are similar, but Nicolo bears some responsibility.

I raced you fair and square, But you wrecked me, even why?
Davide Tardozzi told us all not to die!
"Oh shut up, Silly Nicolo" Marquez said from afar.
You knew I was Murderin' Marc when you left the door ajar!!

I don't think Marc can do any different. He sees a rider ahead and he just got to try to pass.
He's a racer and he can't turn that off no matter how pointless the race is.

There I was, in the late '90s furiously battling my roommate over many sessions of Gran Turismo 2 on the original PlayStation. Turns out it's pretty easy to brake a little late, shoot up the inside and bump your opponent off the track. We labeled it a "..... move": Man, you gotta be a ..... to beat me? Can't race clean? You aren't faster than me, you got nothin'. No style. Weak sauce.

In retrospect it strikes me as misogynistic, but those words still go through my head when I see that move. Best rider in a generation, resorts to a ..... move to grab a podium at an exhibition race.

I remember watching a post career Carl Fogarty course cutting every lap at a local pie and pea enduro meeting. The bare faced .... even went up for a trophy! He deprived someone out of that trophy even though he had an attic full of WSBK winning pots. They’re a different breed to most folks. Yes they’re winners but are they proper people?

Some winners are proper people and others aren't.

It's pretty obvious who is who.

Also obvious who gets in the real gallery of the greats as far as I'm concerned......

And yeah, I get that nobody else has to care about my gallery of the greats....

Can't edit

Then he's a .... if he can't do any different and pass cleanly in an exhibition race.

He's a racer and he can't turn that off no matter how pointless the race is.

A real racer who cares about himself, his legacy or others knows how to pass without taking the other rider out, especially if the race doesn't count for anything.
