8 years ago was Nicky Hayden's last GP ride, and at Phillip Island. Love this shot. Ride on brother till we meet again.

The new surface has been reported as abrasive so that will suit the riders that are good at saving their tyres so I'm predicting the usuals Martin, Bagnaia and M Marquez. Add to that Bastainini if he gets thru Q1. Early on there will be other riders there until they use their tyres up.

I haven't looked up the results to check, but I thought that Bastianini had improved his qualifying recently. Unless there's something about Philip Island I don't know about, I would predict somewhere in the first two rows. It's quite likely there's something about Philip Island I don't know about as I don't tend to remember races and history in as much detail as others do.

OR.................................It's Bastianini and you never quite know with this guy.

Not sure where the stewards' collective head was at. The ride thru penalty issued to Capirossi was total BS. 🤣

Zarco was looking good...............................until he wasn't. Alex Marquez swoops in for P2 and pushes FQ#20 out. Q1 will be interesting.

Pretty much why I am absolutely fascinated to see how he gets on with the KTM.

His performance window is so wide open that it could go from really good to really bad.

I get he was injured for a bit, but he was never going to be that great signing Ducati were looking for. Far too inconsistent much like his teammate next season.
