Marc still aint anywhere near the old Marc
Pol has out qualified him and Taka's time is very close.

Yeah the Honda has problems.
I hope he pulls his head in a bit.
I would like to see more of the old MM again if the shoulder improves.
Throwing it down the road won't do that.

Pecco vs Fab could be good.

Dovi isn't making that old Yam look good like Franco did.
Then Franco isn't up to speed yet either.
Interested to see how those 2 go over the next few races also.

I'd have been surprised if Dovi did good that quickly. He's stated in an interview that the M1 requires a riding style that is the direct opposite of what he's used the last 8 years. He said something that was a bit garbled, but sounded like the Yamaha felt taller and longer, either of which sounds surprising to me.

I was told there's rain in the forecast for the race, any truth?

An existential theory of truth stresses the epistemological (not ontological) indeterminateness of meaning and truth, apart from one's personal participation in determining them. Contrary to superficial interpretations, this theory does not do away either with a transcendent reality or with objectivity.... oh wait, you mean about the weather. Accuweather predicts rain at about 1:00 local time.

Marc usually has better race pace than his one lap quali attempts. He chose to follow the wrong guy, the Honda had no chance of staying out of the kitty litter at Peccos pace.

Give Dovi time and I think he will do decent. I don't expect much from him this year. Franco is not 100% yet as what the word is. He is just getting back in the groove. I'd don't expect much from him for a while either. Was he on 2019 bike or factory spec? I just hope Dovi can beat his "teammate" consistently.

Yeah that'd be good [emoji38]

From what I've read, which aint that much, Franco on '21 Dovi on '19.
Yeah Dovi is rusty and Franco aint fit with the knee not back to full strength (Dovi prob unfit too).

Yeah Marquez crashes a bit in practice looking for the limit and going past it.
He has a shitload of poles over his career though, so still rate his one lap pace.
He aint normally out qualified or out paced in FP4 by those on the same bike though.

Yeah that makes sense I guess, not bike fit either and the brain has to come back to finding the limit.

I didn't expect him up the front either in a 2 year old bike.
Bone last isn't great either though.

Not great, but considering Rossi's result, not that terrible either.

How many times are they going to tell use the 2019 Ducati can't turn? You mean the bike that Dovi beat marc in the corners over and over with?

Wow - Great race. Baggy perfect. Fabio dauntless. .......o, a revelation.

Miller, as expected.

Mir, before you talk .... about Marc maybe you should beat him in a race. Fake champ vs the goat.

Great race. Loved the glimpse Fabs takes at Bags’ rear tire, classic! Great rides from both of course.

Stars fading for Miller and Mir. Their trending performances do not bode well for better future results. Same for Rins. The ever younger and faster riders are coming.

At least MM decided he was going to finish the race. That’s the best you can say about his performance. Sure you can say the Honda sucks. As their leading racer, Marquez shares a responsibility in the performance of the bike regarding development. Here’s where the politics of negotiation come into play in all areas of endeavor. If the lead rider just rides the bike without being an influence on development, then look what happens. He has to somehow get the big H to build him something that he can match Yamaha and Ducati on. This means he has to know what that might be and nudge the team in that direction. And change that direction if it turns out to be wrong down the line. This might be a skill that he lacks.

Aprilia still missing that little bit. Mav looks happy, but for how long?

Best season so in a long while!

DP09 - 16th
AD04 - 21th.

Ducati really needs to solve their bike issues regarding corner speed. Oh, wait...

Yes. Again a great race. Now that the monkey is off his back, Bagnaia is now winning. But then so was Miller and then he faded. Such is the mystery of the Michelin tyres. I can’t understand how Oliviera is so far behind.

Marc has always said that he prefers a fast but difficult bike to an fun/comfortable, but slow bike. Things seem to have gone a bit too far. He’s no longer fit enough to tame the beast of a Honda.

You sound just like his step wife.

Good post. Only thing I disagree with is about marc and development. He was out the entire last season. Plus I have had an opinion the you cannot develop a bike around enigma riders. His data isn't good for developing a bike around just like stoner. They ride in such a special way that their data doesn't help with development. You need the consistent type rider like Pedro, Dovi, or JLo for that.

If Miller didn’t consistently start out guns blazing, and then fade half-way through the race, I’d look to the tires. He just can’t maintain concentration for the whole of the race. No mystery there.

Totally agree with you on this complete statement. HRC should recruit Lorenzo back in as the Development rider.

Misfit and Mdub I get your point. But….there has to be progress even if you’re a special rider like MM.

Since JL is so different from MM, how would his development help MM?

Part of the tool bag of a modern rider or driver is the ability to communicate with the team’s engineers about different problems and solutions and the ability to discern which of those advance performance. Then of course everybody has to actually want to advance.

The days of just getting on and riding it are over. (That’s what Hailwood said he did and I would argue he was just as special as MM.)

Changing eras require changing skills.
