2012 Jerez Test Thread

Don't get to excited yet, CS doesn't get along with Jerez and he's still damn fast
Good to see Stoner not in 1st place. This stirs excitement in me that it's a possibility that he won't run away and ruin the races. What's Rossi doing half a sec behind his teammate? Wasn't this bike designed for him? But, still very happy to see humble Nicky towards the top.

2 more weeks till we see the lights of Qatar! ! !

17.55 - All is good (except the weather...) Casey's on top!

@truent - official mgp.com puts up a lap by lap analysis in pdf format an hour or two after the session.

...., I thought they were done already. I was hopeful for Ducati most of the afternoon, but I don't like where this is going.

Apparently that's all folks - last posting are final times. Now the interviews and statements!

CRT over a "prototype" bike. Interesting, eh Pov? You can now end your "boycott".

I am not against the CRT's but.....

They are not running the same reg's.

That ART bike...how much money went into developing it? Taking the RSV4's development cost into account and all.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that they running so well, especially for RdP. But if this is what it takes to make CRT work, I wonder how much cost reduction we are actually realizing, how much we have to tilt the playing field in Aprillia's favor, how much the spirit of the rules (what rules) must be broken, and how long it will take CRT to become the Aprillia cup.

Yeah Ducati is sitting where they left off at and RDP is going to make quick work of both sat Ducs. I can only hope this gets Ape back into GP, now I'm ready to see how the extra fuel works out for the CRT bikes and if RDP will be able to keep to pace high for an entire race.

In real terms not so much... The cost of 90% of the development has already been absorbed by the factory WSBK effort. BMW could easily through more weight behind Forward or have their own team and use their WSBK-bred tech. Don't really see the problem.

Aprilia know how to build bikes period, who cares where it came from, let's just be happy for bigger grid and RDP still being relevant in GP. It's going to take a while for the rest of them to figure out the electronics but it's really a new field because previously on factory techs were allowed to work on the bikes.

I know, that's what I'm alluding to. It's easy to say that these bikes are cheap to develope, but that is because people exclude the developent costs for the initial road bike, and the costs incurred for developing the engine and electronics to boost performance for SBK competition.

Yam looking strong, so long as you don't wear a funny hat.

Really hoping Pie Man can keep up with J-Lo's progress.

Bad day for the Boppers.

I care, because CRT is meant to reduce costs to increase the number of entries. For the ART bike, the cost reduction is questionable, because a lot of the development cost is already incurred 'outside' of gp, so to speak. So yeah, sure, in the short term we get a nice boost in grid numbers, and some of those bikes will even be competitive. In the long term, I fear this thing may backfire.

wonder what BS excuses will come out of rossi camp today?

there was a banana peel stuck to my tyre....

my part of the track had oil on it....

i had to ride on the wooden wheels today...

they forgot to pack my gloves....

i twisted my ankle this morning....

the bike was only running on 3 cylinders.....

But this the whole point of CRT or whateverthefuck they wanna call it. Leverage developed tech (ie cost already paid for); engines, teams, factories - its all good!

I'm starting to increasingly doubt that. I just don't see how this situation can be sustainable in the long term.
