What if Honda take Stoner and Hayden

I'd given that some thought. Dovi is a better rider on the 800s, but I think Hayden would be a good long term insurance policy in case the sport is radically altered by the new capacity rules in 2012.

It would be a good line up. Even though I've always been a fan of Hayden and Ducati, the marriage has been a bit rocky. I think a total shakeup of the grid would be preferable to more of the same old same old.

I had the same thought! Both Stoner & Hayden are very good liter class riders. That pairing would put HRC 2012 in top gear. The only other good liter class rider out there beyond goat boy is Spies. I am also wondering if by 3/4 of next season HRC would get the 1000cc on the grid. They were able to pull it off with the 990 against the 500's.

Hayden was good on the 990cc....ran with the front pack often. Stoner had a few good races, but it is hard to say if he was good on the 990. He only had the 2006 season with the big bike before the switch 800cc happened. Maybe Stoner will be better on a 1000cc bike now that he has had a few years of top class racing under his belt.

I dont think Hayden will want to go back to Honda, Ducati should keep him and if not, Yamaha shoul dpick him up and get him a well equiped Tech 3 bike. I think he would do very well on the Yamaha M1

I have to say (and I'm sure I will get flamed by a Hayden fan), what has Nicky actually done that makes him hot property? Honestly?

I am actually a Hayden fan also (although primarily a Stoner fan) and I do admire his tireless work ethic but Marco Melandri was tireless

in his efforts to make the Duc work also.

Nicky has won a world championship but seriously when you look at his wins for his entire MotoGP career it really isnt that stellar. You would

have to think that some one like Yamaha would put Spies on the factory bike over Nicky (if this was ever to become an option).

I think it is fair to say that when his time is over at Ducati Nicky maybe looking at satellite rides only, or perhaps a trip to the SBK paddock.

Ducati would be taking a big risk putting Pedrosa on their bike, it has taken every rider (bar Stoner) a complete season to even get close to being

competitive on it.

I personally would like to see Stoner stay with Ducati. Since Ducati has come into MotoGP I have become a real fan of them. After seeing them rise to the top

so quickly it has made me dismiss a misgivings I may have had about them in the 750cc vs 998cc SBK days.

Having an Aussie on a manufacturer that I admire makes it easy to support........until they start have issues staying upright

Nothing. He has a world title and he is well liked by lots of fans. Once upon a time teams could always fall back on his development, but they don't test anymore.

He's just a solid guy who rides the #2 bike. I don't think that will change unless the bikes get another 200cc and additional fuel.

Melandri? Capirossi? Maybe De Puniet, Kallio or Elias?

What about new Talent that could adapt better to 1000 than 800? Lorenzo? Dovisiozo? Simoncelli? Barbera? Espargaro? Aoyama?

Not really sure about your Statement Evo.

Capirossi was 3rd in 2006 and had a Championship contention at the Start of the Season, also 4th back in 2003 just out of the box Ducati!

A debate over cc's is worthless. They could rule that 2000cc bikes are allowed and it would still make no difference. A 1000cc bike on 21 litres will be worse than an 800cc bike on 21 litres. Just ask Ducati as they are not even going to develop a 1000cc bike theirs will most likely be a 900cc bike.

Until a change to the fuel limit is made the debate is who can ride a 21 litre bike the best. And the only ones who have proved they can ride one to a championship are Rossi, as long as it is on rails and Stoner as long as it is a wild son of a ..... that sends mortals running scared.

But Stoner did nothing on a 990 compared to Meladri's 2005 2nd against Rossi for example ! Or Melandri & Pedrosa in 2006! Yeah, I know... Factory Honda for Pedrosa bla bla, but even Melandri's 990 results are better!

Cannot go further back because Stoner could not be compared, he was not around!

V, read my post. Who gives a .... about what was done a 990cc with 24 litres when discussing 2012 bikes and who can ride them. I commend you on your statistics and why I say your superhero name is 'STATMAN' but sometimes stats have no meaning. In this case pre 21 litre stats have no relevance to 2012 bikes.

As far as Melandri goes you could say that in 2005 he was not riding against Stoner or Pedrosa. Of all those riders in 2005 only one of them, Rossi, has shown ANY ability on a fuel limited bike.

If anyone thinks that a return to 1000cc bikes means big powersliding drifts out of corners and point and shoot racing with multiple lines through corners I am here to tell you that you are going to be extremely disappointed and quite frankly you are embarrassingly naive.

Don`t want to piss on your fire mate, but 2012 is a fair way off.All sorts of things to be considered by the powers that be to put the ooomph back into MotoGP.........fuel could be one of them.

Take a look at 2006 race winners - the last 990 season - NO STONER - if my memory is half way functional - what he did most often on the 990's was CRASH

V, I am looking at the KNOWN STRONGEST currently in the GP class! You forgot to add Edwards to your list. But lets face it, Cappi & Edwards are/has gotten pasted their prime. Melandri yes & no......... he needs to sort himself out. Maybe De Puniet, Kallio or Elias? = better performance near contract time. The only semi proven one of the new talent is Mop Head jr

. He did an awesome job in WSBK on th Aprillia RSV4.

Too bad everybody who is slated to move would be on a learning year of their new surrounding...except ONE.

Really?????? take a look at the current #2 rider on the 2nd Ducati. The meaning of hard work & tireless effort has been redefined by the west. If Marco had put the the effort forward you speak of, he would be at Ducati today! His biggest effort was complining & trying to get out of his contract with Ducati.

I wondered if anyone was going to call that out. Melandri quit on Ducati, he didnt put a full season of effort into developing the bike.

Honda won't take Hayden and I don't know if he would go. Hayden - Rossi - Honda have on e thing in common - mutual dislike

Even though Nicky was upset to get axed at Honda, he was very gracious in his departure and didnt burn any bridges like Rossi did. I agree that Honda would not take Nicky, simply on performance though, not because of a personality conflict. If Nicky was a contender, Honda would take him back in a minute, and he would probably go, pending the deal that was offered.
