....... ........, Theo's comment was sick, has never been retracted or apologised for. By trying to make it a lesser offence you stand alongside the prat that wrote it.
Here is what I said.
On another note its a shame that the rider who died in 2011, wasn't Rossi. Maybe then we wouldn't have the antics we see now.
What is sick about that, a man died it could have been Rossi, but it wasn't. The fact remains that since that time Rossi has been the bear in the pit, just shows what a revolting individual he's become.
Also take into
consideration the two words "wasn't Rossi". But then I expect like all the other custard eaters you see what you want to see.
Also I'd not boo cheer or anything else when rider comes off, not like the yellow fans who boo all and sundry if they get past their hero.
Just carry on now.
Fascinating! As an aside, no wonder our “democracies” are in the toilet, we are in charge and we’ve made a mess of it because anything can be rationalized, and certainly based on your logic above, anything is fair game.
First of all, I am fully cognizant it’s a lost cause, whatever I say on this below will likely escape your appreciation, my reply to you is mostly for those readers who will immediately see the folly of your “logic” in
defending something indefensible Theo, given your disturbing and irrational argument. It is fascinating that you are
doubling down on your lamenting it were Rossi losing his life rather than Simoncelli dying in a horrifying accident in a sport we follow passionately; presumably why we all spend so much time here ‘on occasion’ talking about racing at length. This is after all, a racing exchange of ideas, so at very least we are on topic, I’ll give us that.
On one hand you bemoan the media antics of Rossi after the Argentine debacle, including mention of the “booing” of riders by his fans based on some
notion of moral ‘principle’ whilst simultaneously on the other hand making an extremely depraved statement lamenting your preference for
Rossi’s death rather than Simonchelli. You lament it wasn’t Vale rather than Marco, for what exactly? Oh yeah,
to save yourself the trouble of suffering through Rossi’s stupid media ‘antics’, the world would be a better place according to you if Rossi’s life had been taken instead of that other Italian. I’m literally shaking my head writing this Theo. Other than a couple of members here defending you like
Barry Machine and Littleton, I can’t imagine too many people coming out in support of your statement, much less your “logic” in attempt at defending it.
I don’t like Rossi Theo. I wish he had retired in 2007 when he was threatening to leave if he didn’t get this and that. I think we can discuss/debate his lopsided popularity and influence in the sport; however, we should place the
blame on the series organizers for creating a corrupt situation where he has been and is able to make demands and have them met. It should be said that Dorna, particularly under the leadership of
Carmelo Ezpeleta have ruined the authenticity of competition of the sport. Rossi can only make demands, say whatever he wants to the media, have as many motorhome meetings as he want, but ultimately it’s the series
authorities that are suppose to check individual influence and preside evenhandedly, fair, and just. But for this, I’m not going to wish Carmelo get hit by a truck either. Surely
I would not (like you) cite for the sake of inflammatory affect one of the most emotional and upsetting moments of our sport, then use it to say, I wish Carmelo had been killed by it, no matter how popular you think the sentiment would be.
You are out of line Theo. We all have had dim thoughts here and there, but
‘most’ of us have enough
‘self-control’ to keep certain thoughts to ourselves (
granted not everybody has this quality, as you have learned from the flame wars, which started because some here couldn’t keep their mouth shut about their smug judgmental thoughts regarding other’s personal lives. Not surprisingly the only people defending you here are the same ones you have aligned yourself with on this matter.) This is one of the lessons of adulthood that children are still working out. You have kids? Has one of your kids ever said, Daddy I wish you were dead, or I ‘hate’ you!’, in reaction to telling them to get off the TV, video game device, taking away the keys to the car, or whatever? I’ve heard my nephews say it to my brother a few times actually, and I’m sure I will eventually hear it at some point.
You should have retracted your statement unequivocally, apologized, and said, ‘.... guys, my bad, this guy sometimes just pisses me off and I’ll blurt out the stupidest things.’ No shame in that, we’ve all said stupid .... we have regretted, except you don’t seem to regret it at all, in fact
you have doubled down!
