I felt this needed to be asked in the "General Superbike Chat" area, and since most of us (excluding one dip<span style="color:#ff0000SShit) that fallow both series we have our heads on strait (except that dip<span style="color:#ff0000SShit).

I ask the questions because I didn't get to watch most of the races this year and I'm really stoked for next year.

So state what you voted for and why?

PLEASE: DON'T <span style="color:#ff0000QUOTE THE dip<span style="color:#ff0000SShit. I HAVE HER BLOCKED.

No contest. SBK hands down. Full grids, lots of competitive bikes. Very little BS from the Italian and Spanish press. Americans are the best Superbikers of all time.

Agree, and with the same rules,AMA Superbike would be just as exciting now that Spies and Mladin are gone. I would dare anyone to bet a large amount of money on who would win AMA Superbike next year with WSBK rules. It would be a 5-6 rider toss up,just as it will be next year in WSBK.

WSBK 2009 hands down winner
<
for on-track action. MGP wins the award for soap-opera-style drama and manginas...
<

2010 - MGP line-up looks exciting, hope the potential is realized. WSBK is wide open and up for grabs, recipe for more close racing, and a variety of possible winners and future champs...
<

2009 - WSB no contest. easily. motogp had one catalunya, WSB had a looooong list...

2010 - WSB. motogp has potential but IMO will not deliver as usual. WSB is wide open and there are more than 4 potential champs in their line-up, not to mention more bikes on the grid too!

MotoGP started out better, with 5 guys capable of running up front and 4 different winners. However Pedrosa quickly self-relegated to 3rd/4th, Lorenzo kept messing up and Stoner had to have some quiet time. 3/4 of the way through we pretty much knew it was going to be Rossi Part 7.

WSBK as a whole had closer racing during most weekends and more then it's fair share of exciting finishes. MotoGP has had two exciting races in the past two years, 08 Laguna, and 09 Catalunya. The dramatic comeback of Spies 88 point deficit was a quite a thing to watch. The build up to the final round was nerve wracking, but unfortunately a bit anti-climatic.

I'll have to agree with BigAl, GP has some serious potential for excitement next year, but doubtful it will deliver. Racing feels like it's getting closer and more exciting since the advent of 800cc, but still it's no 2006 990cc year. 2010 looks pretty good for an epic year in WSBK, so long as the Xerox Ducati's don't checkout.

Ok Tom, please let us know how lame WSBK has been and will be an how the "spectacle" of MotoGP is just so much better.

SBK is my favorite, but I must say that MotoGP is going to be crazy next year. I mean look at Stoner being back to form, Lorenzo is going to be so focused, the battles for Rookie of the Year, and how is Rossi going to handle this all. I mean the presure on everyone is going to be spectacular.

Maybe MotoGP gets so hyped up and dramatisized that we are left with such low expectations of SBK. Than after the start of the following season we get slapped in the face by the simple fact of tighter racing in Production racing, where a series is won more on skill than the make of his bike and we feel fulfilled at the end of the season.

SBK gets the double for me. next year MotoGP is def gonna be exciting, but so will SBK. there are so many guys who could be in the hunt next season. i hope its one of those seasons where we get a bunch of different winners, with some guy getting his only two wins of the season in a double. something like that.

Didn't see every WSB round, but what I saw was better than MotoGP this year.

250's has been better than either of them though.

Wow, I've never seen a poll so lob sided. But I agree, WSBK was better than MotoGP this year. I wonder what this poll would look like in the MotoGP chat board?
<

But I think MotoGP will offer a better series next year "if" all four of the top are on their game and we see major improvements from the mid packers. (Am I dreaming or will we see more close racing?)

Agreed, 250's is usually the best racing every year. Although WSS last year (2008) was epic. Hopefully Moto2 will live up to the hype.

Definitely dreaming, but we gotta have hope.

I have only been watching SBK and MotoGP for a year now...can't believe I didn't pull my head out sooner...so I have a fairly limited perspective...but here goes...

I like the SBK format better...two races...full grids...more power...an american to root for (who had a chance of actually winning!). Now that Spies is gone I am not sure who I will back...most likely Crutchlow or Toseland...that way I can keep it in the Yamaha family.

MotoGP may have the better riders overall, but I just don't like the format and the field is a bit small in numbers...at the end of the day it seems to me less entertaining...except for when Lorenzo presses Rossi like at Catalunya. That was good.

Now with Spies in MotoGP I may feel differently since I have someone I can't truly cheer for. We'll see.

wsbk outflanked motogp this season as far as exciting racing goes & although gp had its moments there was just much more to be had in superbikes..... i do however think that gp racing will be better next season. with all 4 top guys hopefully being fit & ready to go along with my hope that big ben will get comfortable on his yamaha & become the 5th alien racer. i also expect some improved riding from melandri & hayden. i'll always be a fan of both series reguardless...
