"We should avoid riding in these conditions"

Haha, great play on words amigo.  It really does look so effortless when they are out there doesn't it?  Did you see when Jlo hit the patch of water?  The conditions were tricky were they not? So what is your technical objection to the statement?  There was still patchy areas of rain.  Thats what he was talking about.  You've now turned his comments about the condition and its safety into a whine very similar to when Stoner would give his straight talk opinion.  Its not your .... on the line, is it?  Ironically, you got Sloth and Mr. Squiz (who I thought had slit his wrists) to like your comment, yet I'm almost certain Stoner would have had the same take.  In an instant .... can happen, just look at Bradl now.  A rather unassuming crash and his foot gets jammed up.  Which btw, I wonder if RD will issue a penalty point to the circuit (oh I could hear Kropos/Noyes tweets now if the tarmac's edge had injured Marky).  Again, while your .... is not on the line, sure you can talk tough about the relative safety of conditions.  But these guys understand (at least most of them)  a moment can turn into serious injury.  No wonder he took a dig at Dorna for aquising to tv scheduling and their perception that the audience demand the riders perform on the knife's edge for the thrill.  Its got to be raining oil from the sky for some people to understand that conditions can be treacherous.  I remember sitting in Hurricane Ike at Indy thinking, holy ...., nobody gives a .... if these dudes die.  And if your retort is, well nobody has a gun to their heads to ride, then you've really missed the point and the mindset of such competitors. Its better if they just shut up about ...., right Bat?

No I didn't get to watch.  It's tougher to watch here in Minnesota than in Zaragoza.  Got married a month ago, so got better things to do at 2 AM...

I haven't turned anything into anything else.  You may have red too much between the lines.  I'm just relaying feedback from Spain, the Dorna corrupt country that runs GP, and the local masses feel that JL is trying to throw some weight around. Especially now that his back is against the wall when it comes to both this race in Malaysia and the Championship.

The conditions were the same for everyone.  Good enough for VR, the teammate, to get second.  And like I mentioned, good enough for MM to break the track record.  Sure, the conditions were tricky, but tricky enough to "avoid riding?"  It's a little dramatic don't you think?  The response from the Spanish mass is that,  "JL you feel it's too treacherous to be out there, stay in the pits or go home, quit your bitchin'."

Jesus ....... Christ.

I ....... love how fans need heroes and villains.

Especially villains.

If Rossi had made Jorge's superbly sarcastic comments from earlier this week, the internet would be full of fawning, idolatrous and masturbatory approval.

Now the reigning world champ is a whiny, complaining sook. Hmmm, familiar territory.

For the record, Stoner may well have been one to complain about conditions like that and I would call him out on it if he did. Lorenzo knows his title is shot and his outlook is changing from determined champ to spoilt .....

Of course a 'moment' can turn into serious injury. There are hundreds of moments on any given weekend, wet or dry. If Lorenzo had a specific safety concern, fair enough. But to say it's a bit slippery out there, we shouldn't go out - is just being precious.

Yeah, a spoilt .... who lost all determination went fastest in WUP.

For the record, I don't agree with his comments re: Qualifying. But the seemingly relentless need to assign "whinger" status to someone in the paddock is annoying and lazy

I think what he says probably gets a bit lost in translation too to be fair.

There is a difference between CS's whine and JL's.  Where CS had something to say regardless of his result, often coming after a win or a pole, JL complains only when the situation hasn't favored him.  Such as the horrible conditions of Qual at Sepang...

Congratulations mate. Remember a happy wife = a happy life

Being there (obviously not riding on the track though) many times i would say track conditions were quite good compared to what I've seen in the past. Track was perfect unless you got way off line.

Haha, finally made it back to MN? You poor sap, get entrapped to a woman and soon to be entrapped by snow...

During a perfectly dry event, Stoner "whined" about Indy being too slippery.  I gave him .... for it, turned out the "whining" .... was right.  Nicky and four other riders crashed to all hell.  Nicky's season was shot, and Stoner effectively lost the title chase.

Lorenzo perhaps was being precious...with his life.

So where do we draw the line? Racing in the rain is completely crazy and dangerous, but it is a big part of the sport and it would be a shame if they ever stopped it.

No matter how much grip there is, the riders will just push the boundary until they crash (or have a moment). The best of the best do crash less regularly, but that is just because they are better at saving the moments.

Good point (s). but meagre 15 minute qualifying sessions - for the "show" mind you - don't help.

As long as the conditions are acceptable and equitable to the riders, the session should be on. Not dissimilarly to Mr Donkey. Kong.
