What Is The Best Circuit??

i like a lot of the tracks but i have to say watching nicky at laguna down the corkscrew is awesome and donington seeing them all come down craner is second to none the only thing that bugs me about donny is the fact i cant ever make the esses on the playstation, its VERY annoying

i love watching a bit of club racing at cadwell, im off later this month

From rider's point of view, I'd say old Assen

From spectator point of view, Valencia (stadium like, you can see all track, good weather, huge crowds)

From safety point of view, I'd say Donington, there were tons of crashes last GP and no one got hurt.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Rising Sun @ Jul 3 2007, 02:39 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I like the fast, flowing tracks. Places like Hockenheim, Spa-Francochamps, Suzuka, Assen, Phillip Island, Salzburgring, the old Paul Ricard (with the massive Mistral Straight). More often than not the racing was close with so many places for passing attempts.

Of the current circuits, other than Phillip Island, I quite Jerez, Mugello, Catalunya and Brno. Actually, I'd say Istanbul Park is right up there too. If the 2nd US GP falls through, I hope they find a way to keep it on the calendar.

One for the Aussies on the forum: It'd never happen in a million years (and not just because of the obvious safety issues), but could you imagine the MotoGP bikes flying around Mount Panorama? Heading up Mountain Straight, across Skyline, or through the Dipper, or seeing them open it right up down Conrod Straight...

Yeah, I completely forgot about Mt Panorama! They used to have (probably 25 years ago) the Eater Bathurst bike races but they were stopped due to, mainly, riots etc going on! I could imagine how modern day sports bikes would be around Bathurst. Friggin amazing methinks! So many opportunities for hero overtaking manouveres! That would be something to see!

I forgot Brands Hatch
<
. It is a great challenging circuit and the viewing is the best in the world.

I'm pretty new to bike racing (only followed for about a year) so the only bike race I've seen is BSB at Brands Hatch... however I have seen a car race or two at Donington... both are great but I would have to see a bike race at Donington to judge it.

I really like the Philip Island, but i think the best track on the calender is
LAGUNA SECA

Brands Hatch is a fantastic circuit. It's my local circuit, and we went to the WSB there from 1996 to 2002. It's challenging and you can access all of the circuit easily. Granted I prefered it when Dingle Dell was a "chicane" as opposed to just a turn, but it's still quality. The facilities at Brands, as far as I can remember, are a lot better than Donington too, so I'd love to see MotoGP there. Not to mention the fact in all the years we went to the WSB, we didn't have a single track invasion as opposed to the two in three years at Donington.

Assen I love. Everything about the whole event is fantastic. The banking round the whole of the south end of the circuit gives you a great view of everything. They also have loads of screens, seems like hundreds in comparison to Donington, so you never miss any of the action or the timing screens no matter where you are sitting. The two years we've gone we've sat in the new Strubben Tribune at the first corner. This gives a great view of the entire first complex all the way down to the chicane before they go off into the distance. The camping is also fantastic as everyone is out for a good weekend and although everybody drinks, you certainly don't get the same kind of hassle or trouble you would get in the UK.

On a similar note to this thread, my brother and I are thinking of going to a couple of European rounds as well as Assen (so missing the British GP). Which circuits would you recommend. Top three on the list at the moment are Valencia, Brno & Mugello. If you guys could help out in where the good places are, whether they are the best or which of the other European rounds are a "must see".

If you are considering Valencia you'd be better off sacking it and going to Jerez, because its far better.

Now, now. It's down to personal preferance

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Josh @ Jul 3 2007, 09:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>In what ways?

The plus side Valencia has it's a lot cheaper to get to with it having EasyJet flights!

Jerez is a better track with better viewing and a better atmosphere (as long as you're in the stadium section). We flew with ryanair to the airport at Seville, that was pretty cheap.

I can't do those well either. Just do what my sister does and go straight over

my local circuit is thruxton, they race bsb there, very fast with no straights, start and finish line on a corner ,imagine that in motogp.
<
<

Assen a.k.a. "The Cathedral" for its historical significance

Sachsenring for its fast tight turns

Phillip Island for the scenery
