Do you believe in anyway that what ama/dmg has done is good for the sport?
It's no mystery. I'm sure you haven't seen, but I've said on numerous occasions I believe the AMA is moving in the right direction. Parity of equipment is extremely important in production bike racing, especially if it's only a national series.
The AMA resembles a gang-controlled ghetto. The governing officials have little to no control. Each gang is clinging desperately to its nearly worthless piece of turf. Why? Because that's all they have and they can't traffic their product without that piece of turf.
Even the mentality of the manufacturers resembles that of gangs. They don't care if they are all better off after DMG, the manfacturers only care that they are still relatively better off than their enemies. Look how long the insurrection against DMG lasted.
Somebody needs to clean this mess up. I'm not terribly pleased it's DMG, but if anybody can bring cash and fans it's them. The manufacturers have no leadership, no vision, and little hope for rebuilding the greatness of the AMA; otherwise, I would have been happy to see them try to rehab the series.
I'm not an ends justify the means sort of person, but if DMG succeed in rehabilitating the sport, I really don't care what they do. We can sort out the crimes against racing decency when the sport is no longer in danger of collapse.
