Your Mom's House
Just wondering what you guys think. Since Mat Mladin was DQed and caught cheating, and this effectively assures Ben Spies his 3rd AMA Superbike title, then will he make it to MotoGP?

My answer is No. Suzuki don't seem to want to field a third bike. I doubt he will agree to a satellite team.

I think somebody will convince him to stay in the AMA as the star.

He has no track knowledge and few sponsors or national connections. I hope he's willing to take a satellite ride, b/c he's got to cut his teeth somewhere.

I'm going to be really disappointed if he can't land a satellite Ducati. Both seats are open and Ducati are giving the satellite team more attention. Simoncelli reportedly declined a satellite ride and Caneppa is still up in the air.

For some reason I think Ducati are trying to strong arm someone into Bayliss' spot and they aren't going to give away the satellite rides until it's filled.

As far as I can tell there are 2 satellite Ducati seats and only 3 people under consideration: Spies, Canepa, and Kallio. Only two of those people are legit. The other happens to be Italian.

Gresini's got a spot as well, but I'm not convinced that is a ride worth taking.

Really?? I actually think Gresini's a great team, they've got a good chance to score a win or two next year, seing how they will now be supplied with factory bikes. I just hope they sign another rider other than Spies.

Really, there results this season are not overly impressive. maybe the teams good but there riders are not then !

i reckon spies will stay put in AMA

Not sure whether Ben will get a shot @ motogp this year. Suzuki have said they aint gonna run a third bike, so I think that might be his chance gone for this year. Then again I could be wrong !!!!

Spies in the AMA next year is my bet

Unless DMG give him millions of dollars and his own MTV show, he ain't staying.

The rules changes for 2009 mean they are going to be running vastly inferior technology for next season. The spectacle should be better, but staying will put his career in jeopardy. He needs to get to WSBK at the very least.

If Spies stays in AMA next year he can wave goodbye to any sort of advancement in his career. Its either leave AMA now or never in my opinion.

I've got my fingers crossed that he'll take the Gresini spot as that is by far the best option he can go for. I wouldn't like to see him on a sattalite Duke because them things are so damn hard to adapt to it'll make him look bad in the same way that it has made Elias, Marco and Guinters look bad this season.

If he doesn't land the Gresini ride i'd love to see him in WSBK with one of the factory teams whether it be Xerox Ducati, Santander Yamaha, Alstare Suzuki or even Hannspree Honda. I think he'll easily be able to claims a number of wins in his debut season and maybe challenge for the title in his 2nd season.

But whatever happens if Spies stays in AMA its career suicide.

why ? he's young and could be a 4 times champion by the end of next year. not a bad thing to have on your cv when your looking for a factory ride.

He has almost no experience riding in Europe. Unless the AMA starts running races in Europe, he's falling further behind. Same trouble Nicky faced. Spies is going to be up against people who've been riding tracks since they were kids.

just like many other in there rookie season, no real biggie

He would be crazy to stay with the Mongolian cluster .... ama/dmg has created. He'd be better off to take the year off if he can't get a WSBK Or Motogp ride.

Ama has just proven how vindictive/small minded they are with this Maladin DQ. The only reason he is being hassled is because of his out spoken criticism of the new nascardmg racing .... The crank is legal and has been legal.

Spies only hope in the U.S. is if the MIC can get their series up and running in time

yup! IMO its WSB for spies on the alstare suzuki or as fabrisio's team mate at Xerox Duc...

You idiots know nothing about the AMA next year. It is completely ......! Spies has already said that he is not staying in the US no matter what. WSBK is a possibility, but I am sure he will be in MotoGP no matter what. He will find a ride. He is the perfect rider for marketability and I think he can be very successful. Someone will pick him up.

Thanks for setting us straight. I didn't realize how dumb I was until you pointed it out.

If you're Spies, Mladin, Hayes, or Zemke the new rules are the worst thing to ever happen to the universe. For everyone else, it's the best thing since sliced bread.

I guess these AMA stars will have to start racing more than 1 person per weekend.

Personally, I don't want to see any damage to their reputations, but if they start getting beat routinely by the field, maybe they aren't the best.

I confess, even though i'm not in the discussion.I know nothing about AMA and what will happen next year.So i just voted what i would guess.
He will go to WSBK or some kind of SBK and enter Moto GP the year after that.
If i'm not misstaken his options in MotoGP is Gresini and Alice right?I think all those spots are going to be filled with 250 riders and remaining riders.Besides, does he really want to go to Alice?
