Besides, if the TT was stopped, what effect would it have on the local economy?

A few would suffer cash wise, but not alot.
I would suffer. not seeing class racing on your doorstep.
So stop complaining, cause if it is stopped ill blame you richo !

I've said I'm not going to meddle in it, I've got better things to do with my time than try and convince the greedy, immoral old .......s that run the TT that what they're doing is wrong. You'd probably haave better luck trying to teach a brick wall to speak Spanish. Like I said, I'm just never going to the IOM. son't blame me if your high octane blood bath gets binned.

What about these greedy, immoral .......s who run the Dakar?

I mean they killed two KIDS last year.

You mean the same greedy, Immoral .......s who do stuff like this?

You know, I tried to find the same thing on the IOM TT website. I guess the guys in charge over there just donate money to themselves.

What age do you class as kids? 40 years olds acting like kids playing around on their little bikes? Sure you've heard of the saying...

The Dakar gives something to the people, the IOM doesn't and is more dangerous.

No when I say kids I mean 5 year olds, the spectator kind, when was the last time a spectator got killed on the IOM?

Surely you read about it?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (phleg @ Jan 9 2007, 08:55 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>No when I say kids I mean 5 year olds, the spectator kind, when was the last time a spectator got killed on the IOM?

when David Jeffries had his fatal crash part of his bike flew over the hedge and took a dogs eye out.

The IOM TT is an insanely dangerous race, and in my opinion, the simple fact is that if it can't meet some kind of safety standards, it should be scrapped. Then again, I don't race, will never race in something that dangerous, and I guess it should be considered in the same vein as the running of the bulls at Pamplona. People racing because they know they might die, it gives them an extra adrenaline kick. Better on some godforsaken island than outside my house

if you're looking for a fight - you're going to get one when Dion sees that.

I don't read about it, i'm not that sad and blood-gawping mate.

Spectators have been killed on the IOM, and not just 1 or 2.

I think its irrelevant to compare safety records of certain events and what positive they have done for who. The bottom line is, the TT isnt part of a championship so there is no external pressure, every spectator and every competitor knows what they are doing, and none of the residents can complain, the race has been there longer than they have.

Ultimately if you feel like it is irresponsible and dangerous then of course dont get involved in it, but the people actively trying to get it stopped because they dont like it could be considered selfish. just as those trying to convince others to like it because they do, could be seen as rude. Sorry guys, no disrespect meantn to any of you.

I think in the modern world of scary fast bikes, and safety concious society, the TT won't be around too much longer, and people will stop getting involved, gone are the days when works riders or world championship racers bother going. And more and more roadracing guys are trying to get through into the circuit racing world. I think the best way to kill off the TT would be to put a stop to the irish road racing championship which breads and provides a practice ground for most of the best riders. But i'm happy with things how they are

Nah I agree that every racer and spectator know what they're doing... so when they get killed it's technically that's suicide.

I guarantee there will be at least 1 person who lives on the IOM who is over 100, so have been living there before the TT started.
<

Taking part in a dnagerous activity is not suicide unless it is the persons intention to die as a result of it, and i dont think any of them want to die, afterall its the survival instinct that makes the danger so exciting.

people get killed in all types of racing ,nopt just the TT, a while ago a spector and a marsiall got killed at the goodwood fesreval of speed,
all motorsport is dangrous.weather you a racer, martiall or spectator.
if you ban the TT you may find a lot of other avents get banned because someone got killed on year.

So you're saying the IOM TT is more dangerous than your average race track?

Hey do you want to fight ?

where do you live sunshine ?

How did you know i live on a godforsaken island ?

yes but you must take a couple things into cosideration before you compair.
1) its 39 miles a lap. hardly 2 min laps
2) the amount of riders that compete over the whole event in all classes
now if you take these 2 points and compaire to a "normal track race" you will see statisticly its not as dangerous as it appears,
all im saying is there will always be death and injurys in motorsport if you dont like it dont watch it,go and do yoga or something.

I wonder how many people die doing yoga ?
