To UK'ers, Eurosport loses Motogp

It's thanks to Eurosport that I am into Motogp. They gave it the care and attention it deserved. For the BBC it'll be just another sport to slot in.

I have complained to Dorna but let's be honest it won't make any difference.

I suppose Eurosport will now have to big up Superbikes!

Euro-sport has seriously gone down hill for the last couple of seasons, I used to come home from work Friday night and see the days free practise, I'd watch it all day Saturday and the race on Sunday, and if there wasn't much going on that week they'd show the repeat of the previous race.
( yes I know I'm sad watching that much racing)

I think there's enough channels on the TV surley there could be on totally devoted too the two wheeled sport! There must be enough of us watching it to make it worth while.

Come on Richard Branson there's a great idea going here!!! get Virgin on the case.

&...Dorna have just extended their deal with the Beeb, who already knew they had F1, so I wouldn't be surprised if the calenders are adjusted accordingly &...Moto Gp would be on interactive anyway, even if F1 was on at the same time.

Nice one for trying to stir up a .... storm though those journos.

So put your panties back on everyone.

On the contrary, Keep 'em off people.

I started a thread concerning the very real possibility of this happening back in April - most were ambivalent then....now that it's a reality it seems to have sunk in.

Yes, there is 'stroker' coverage on BBCi, but I fear that Matt Roberts and Nick Harris are responsible for the commentary which is as similarly inane and bereft of passion as '....' and Parrish. BBC coverage is for beginners - ther strategy being to lure new viewers. Wave bye bye to the technical features and in depth topics that Eurosport broach. Wave bye bye to impromptu visits to the commentary box by interesting and diverse people associated with the sport, and so long to Randy and his roving pit lane and track side reporting. Eurosport was about substance, insight, and aimed at real race fans...BBC is about commercial expansion, hence the intentional idiots approach. Plus, you can't record qualifying on interactive as you can on sky plus, or the early morning races come to that.

I assume WSB is retained by Eurosport...do Toby and Jules replace Clive McNeil Warwick Nowland, with Jack Burnicle/Jamie Whitham solely concentrating on BSB?

Nice one, now us brits have some great riders in the 125 cc class they want to take it off Eurosport.

I don't think I could bear having to watch BBC coverage and although the adverts are always annoying the Eurosport coverage is worth whatever I have to pay for it just because they are excited, they know everything about everything and the just clearly love it.

She says having just watched Nick Fecking junior like a tT

The more viewers the more amount of coverage, the more coverage the more sponsors. The more sponsors the more money for smaller teams. Everyone ....... about the lack of privateers, well it's of a direct consequence of pay-per-view, & a better exploitation commercially will help them to return.

Yes I do, but do you not understand a consequence of commercialism/mainstream appeal and marketing is the wholesale dumbing down of the product. the BBC will introduce many new people to bike sport, and perhaps bring in added revenue, but not radically. Bike racing will remain marginalised in this country despite the BBC coverage, who remember jumped on the WSB bandwagon wresting it from Sky Sports as a rival to F1 which had just been lost to ..... TV. (WSB was massive due to Foggy and Sky remember, not the BBC). Now they have both, Moto GP will very much play second fiddle to snoremula 1. Why can't they Dorna see the benefit of keeping both in tandem with each other. It's not as if the BBC coverage will intensify or improve with the cessation of British Eurosport.

That said, at least F1 has returned to its rightful home...I hope they call it Grand Prix and use 'The Chain' as the theme music again as it was in he 70's and 80's.

Please find my post about this from April..saves me rewriting it.

look, the bbc already have motogp as well as eurosport, if dorna are giving the bbc the monopoly on showing motogp in our country to try and promote it to a wider audioance im sure stipulations were added to the contract about showing it live without cutting the ends off races to show tennis ect. the bbc has many channels now that are on freeview/freesat, its not as if its still only bbc1 and bbc2 like the old days.

if your that worried why not write or email the bbc with your concerns, last time i emailed them i did get a prompt reply.

well it is worrying to think we might not see our sport live now plus all the other shows like quali 125,s ect but ive been getting increasingly unhappy with eurosport these past couple of years and im trying to think positive. maybe things are going to get better for us !....fingers crossed

They haven't had Toseland on Sports Personality of the Year, & BBC Breakfast etc for nothing.

What about the rest of you lot?

your petitioning for a pay channel... well done

if you want a big organisation to take notice you will need more than a few emails off random people, there are a few things that we have all said about motogp that need changing.

online petition maybe? get loads of signatures then send it do them and it will make a bigger dent that just a few small complaints, if dorna thinks thousands of people are pissed off then they should take notice.....

I can't see a petition having any effect, no big organisation ever takes serious notice of them.
They know that however much we complain about it, we will still watch whatever coverage they give us, because what are we going to do, stop watching motogp?

this petition is to replace the commentary team with the eurosport trio, not to get moto gp back on eurosport. so i have signed it as well, because parrish and .... suck arse....suzi, nice to look at but i watch moto gp for the bikes, not a presenter...
