The Transcontinental Congress is in session

The big question is, will Finns and Italian test riders also be welcome at this seasons congress - or ejected for not wearing a shirt and tie like normal sat parties?

By asking the question, you are assuming we might exclude them. You're banned.

Yes. Of course Canepa and Kallio are welcome, but don't expect us to lavish them with praise. We have very limited resources around here.

If he'd gone any slower than his Duc times, he'd have been going backwards.

I think Nicky did ok today, new team, bike, crew & tyres are going to take more than one day to get used too.
There's some nice footage of Nicky on the duc on the motogp website, you can see the bike moving around, something I gather Melandri didn't like, but Nicky obviously has no problems with it.
Things look promising at this stage.

I'm just a bit worried. I realize Nicky has a lot of new things to adjust to, but if Marco can do what he did then Nicky should in theory being doing at least as well if not better. Marco is in the same boat.

I think, after such a dismal season, that Marco has more to prove so may be pushing a little harder. Whereas Nicky could be taking a slower approach. Also could be that the bike is more suited to the way he wants to ride it.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, let them get a few more tests done, then we'll have a better idea.

Yeah, I keep telling myself that it's still early. But, that wasn't what I was hoping for after the first run. 12th and behind Melandri isn't great. There's still a lot of time till the 2009 season though.

Nicky himself said that if he doesn't learn the Duc by Qatar, he probably won't have learned it by the next time they're in Valencia!

I'm seeing nothing of the sort on Kallio's website. I don't speak Finnish, of course, but the only time I see mentioned is 15.00 when they started teting. I do see it saying (via machine translation) that he ended in 5th, 1.9 back of Hayden.

Sure... but at Yamaha they already know how to set up the M1 for the Bridgestones, don't they. No more walls separating the garage.

Thought I'd bring it back up - getting closer to round 1. Lex? Any conspiracies worth noting at this stage of the season?
And where does everyone think the factory ducatis will finish? I'm thinking top 5 for both. Stoner 1 or 2. Hayden 3- 5. More like 5 but hoping top 4.

The First Trancontinental Congress is still spending taxpayer dollars on our extended vacation. We left December 10th for Christmas break. Christmas break is close to New Year's break which is only a week from winter vacation. One week after winter vacation is Valentine's vacation and the pre-Spring Equinox Congressional bash is only 2 days after Valentines break, so we just combined them all to make things simple for the taxpayers.

I will be loading my taxpayer-subsidized Maybach stretch limousine in to my taxpayer-subsidized Boeing Business Jet and then loading the Boeing Business Jet into a US Airforce Super Guppy Cargo Transport. I will be unavailable for comment during the trip because I don't get cell service from inside the Maybach while we're airborne.

Our thoughts are with the people.

The FTC will reconvene immediately prior to the first event of the season. The boppers are a fair-weather lot. They won't start bopping until after the first round.

P.S. we have added a $1,000 earmark for you in the in the 2009 Omnibus bill as a show of our appreciation. Keep up the good work, see you in a week.
