<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Jumkie @ Sep 7 2008, 01:06 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>If Rossi can bring along his feminine little friend, why can't Spies?

Ucchio - grateful lapdog friend (who is probably making a % of Rossi's dough, so make all the fun you want, but i'll bet the guy's an easy millionaire+ when the circus finally ends) who stays out of the way, keeps his mouth shut, and gets coffee/espresso for everybody.

Mary Spies - IT'S HIS MOM !!!! Does anybody here bring their mom with them to work? Would anybody here WANT their mom at their workplace while they are working?

Can you imagine the snickers and rolled eyes during those weekends between the techs in the Rizla garage?

Think about it. Assume Spies were to sign a 2 year deal. That would mean TWO YEARS OF MARY SPIES

in your garage...

every...

single...

race...

weekend...

all...

weekend...

for...

two...

years...

in your garage...

always within 25 feet of you..

all weekend.

What do you think she's going to be saying to the team and the press if Ben (surprise) doesn't start knocking down victories right away? She's gonna be stomping around the garage blaming everybody for Ben's poor performance.

Two years of that? No thanks. The techs probably said, if she comes, we quit.

Its obviously more like a column. You know, like an opinion piece. And guess what, journalists write columns. Is this your big reason for saying its ....? Dude, we read it and cross check the facts, but the opinions are his own for us to accept or reject. Uhm, just like everything we read. So why is this so different?

I never called it an article, someone else did.

I merely corrected the statement.

If you don't know the difference between reporting facts and editorializing, then I can't help you.

His mom is a bit of his manager. So in that capacity, she does belong there. Uccio, is a leach. Period.

He didn't find the word article in my post either, he just like to pretend he read things and attack those.

If Loris is such a damn good developer, make him that. Make him a test rider and vice manager or something. Obvioulsy Loris wouldn't go for that, but he obviously is a midpacker at best. If there is a thrid bike he would be testing for Spies and Vermi. Poor Loris, I love his spirit and attitude and really is a gereat addition to the paddock, but he is definitely past his prime.

I still don't think that day that Spies turned down the ride in ..... was the day that he lost his ride. If he's fast enough this little "incident", or wise choice as I like to call it, will be passed under the table.

You could say this about most of the GP field...including a former champion....Spies bring nothing to GPs other than being popular in the US....

And for those saying Spies would sell more Rizla's than Loris.....sure when American's roll their own cigs (or other stuff), and smoke anywhere near as much as Italians do...

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Jumkie @ Sep 6 2008, 09:29 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>The part of the opinion article that was toughest for me to agree with was Adam's notion that hiring Loris was a mistake. Actually, I think it was a smart move on Suzuki's part. (My personal opinion is that they made a mistake rehiring Vermulen). Loris can beat his younger teammate on any given race

^^^Except when it is raining my friend.

but add to that the knowledge, experience, and ability to develop a bike that needs advancement. I also think they should have hired Spies. Vermi is good, but not great. If this is what they want more of, then that is what they will get. I personally would have gambled, and gone with a guy that has something to prove and is a wildcard.

^^^I happen to have friends in the AMA paddock and there can be no doubt about Ben's skill and tenacity as a rider. Where he falls short is in the area of race bike development. The next area of improvement is his mom. His mommy dominates the airspace around Ben like Spitfires over the English Channel in WW2. He has got to lose the mommy baggage. He is a 24 year old young gun who should be winning races and chasing tail. His mom keeps girls away from him
<
. At the end of the day I like Ben (I have met him a few times), he is a remarkable talent, his mom needs to allow him to be his own man.

I'm really wondering how Suzuki is going to spin the press releases this weekend. Before it was all "This is a great experience for Ben. We don't expect anything, we just want him to get used to the bike and GPs, etc."

Now what're they gonna say? "We're funding the development of a rider that's going to a rival factory or another series next season. Yay!"

Thank you.

Uccio needs to wear the depends cause he can't control himself any longer after the major pounding he gets from his boyfriend.

I didn't know that about Ben's mom been in the garage at every race
<

If she get in the way and it affects the mechanics I'm sure they would have said something, I don't know... its kind of a weird and unusual situation but if he wants her there, how bad. Although how many times have we seen Graziano in the garage but I think he might know a thing or two about the sport
<
I'm sure he finds plenty of time for the ladies

Either way, I'm looking forward to the outcome of his contract statement next week and finally seeing what his plans are. Hope its going to be Motogp

It's like anything R1 where you hear things or may have even seen them from his mom but get blown out of proportion to some degree. You really can't fault her if she is there in a mgt postition and to make sure the investment is kept safe. That is the reason why I think the whole assen thing transpired the way it did. IF Speis went out there and got hurt he just shot himself in the foot by possibly losing the AMA title he almost had wrapped up and depending upon how severe it was possibly messing up his future in the sport. I also think that with the present situation in the AMA there is much to be caucious about.

Totally, The decision he took at Assen was very wize I think. As you say he had alot at stake for his own championship and while losing a days work on set up might not seem like much to some it really is alot and very crucial. This is not a sport where one can afford to be playing catch up

Especially at a track he really has no idea about.

An "article" it is not.

So I didn't find the word in either post? Um, what will your retraction sound like?I realize you have trouble reading, but are you blind to?

Obviously you and Parc missed the point. Parc, I got you are saying that it should not be called an article. However, both of you come out and say this article (or call it whatever you want) was .... (or as you say Parc, not "journalism"). The thing is it has facts and opinion like many articles; and as many do, they have a bias. When you read an "article" and the "journalist" quotes a rider then says for example this riders quotes "flames" or is "outraged" or "downplayed" such and such, guess what, this is the writer's OPINION. We see that commonly on Crash.net and other news media. The rider they are quoting may disagree with that characterization of his quote, yet we don't go around saying the article is .... or dismiss it. But you two jumped all over this one because it cast a favorable light on somebody you clearly may not like. You two come down on it because Adams makes an opinion (which he usually does) and say this isn't journalism. Hello, there are many forms of journalism. There is that basic news report, then we have columns, stories, editorials, opinion pieces, historical archives, etc. the word article does NOT have some magical designation making it true. Its simply a written piece, its simply a non fiction piece. Now you can say maybe Adams is lying. But it doesn't automatically call for you to say its not an article.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Jumkie @ Sep 7 2008, 02:22 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>No ....! My blind ........ and deaf monkey I keep caged to alert me of intruders could figure that out. But babel thinks its a Papal decree.

Exactly. The "Expletive Deleted" posts are editorial pieces. Not news pieces. That's why he puts that in the title of the link.

Exactly, and are they just going to take a Suzuki from SBK and paint it blue?
<

They might throw in a couple of new parts or something to get some data,or they just get more understanding what tires to use.I don't know what use any team has of a wild card ride other than that, if they don't have an interrest in the rider.

We seem to be overlooking another possibility. What if, after riding the Suzuki, Ben has rejected an offer from Rizla? He may have ridden it and decided that he would be better off elsewhere?
