I know some people who know the family and/or Casey personally, although more acquaintances than anything that could be described as friends and they actually say the exact opposite.



They all state outright that the Casey of today (when not at the track) is a far more settled and calm individual, but that he has totally over the sport and the politics that rule it (they have said that their opinion is that he despises Ezpeleta even more than he dislikes Rossi).



The general consensus of those I know is that in all likelihood Casey has gone one year further than he likely should have and that Adriana and especially Alexandra have been the biggest influence on his life. Some even suggest that he will make appearances at Kurri or any number of dirt tracks when he gets back as well (just as Bayliss did at the Taree meet)
 
Jesus, the man spends half his life travelling the world, I'm not sure how valid a rumour from his cousin's mother's brother's uncle is going to be! Regardless of whether it's positive or negative.



Anyway, I'm more than happy that this "straight talking" myth is being dispelled.
 
With the exception of the blinkered boppers, I'm sure most people agree with Casey's thoughts on this issue. But I think he should've just kept his big mouth shut and let the circus clown put the nails in his own coffin. Now they both look like clowns. Anyway, that's our Casey. He doesn't just burn his bridges - he nukes 'em!

For once I agree with Barry but Gaz said it better.



As Mdub and I were talking about. Only people who race, let alone in a premier world championship, know the pressures associated with racing and letting them go is nice. Look at how most people feel when they resign from a job, that period of notice is like a weight off your shoulders because you know you're leaving and I suspect this is Casey's 'resignation period' in terms of his mood.



I know because i've felt the same. Once I made the decision to leave and pursue other things that make me more happy I was instantly calmer and more settled.

Yeah Pete, I know ya think I'm gay but numbers aren't everything. Look at Schumacher in F1..most of his titles were won when he had by far the best car and no team mate allowed to challenge him. Plus how many world champions were in competitive cars at that time? None. Senna and Prost won less titles, but in a far more competitive and harder environment.

Aw sorry girls didn't mean to upset you by quoting facts. Youre so right casey is the most successful GP rider ever, his on 125 and 250 as well as motogp speaks volumes. He is retiring because he is so fed up of slower riders like Lorenzo et al ruining his reputation. He also hates bass guitars, shocking. Shame he didn't hang around long enough to match the GP wins of the GOAT Troy Bayliss, that would have been something. But Bayliss retains his title of never beaten in a bike race, the guy is incredible. Just like you guys imagination. Get over the truth.

And he is leaving the game as such .......... he's not staying around so that his legacy could be tainted.

All he wants to do is get a way from the pressures of GP, catch a few fish, shoot a few animals and beat the .... out his wife.

Anyway, wonder if Rossi will knock out Casey's buck teeth at the press conference later. I doubt he'll say anything in all honesty!
 
why should he, they have been not too kind to each other equally the past few years for more or less sensible reasons



firing back to what casey said as a response to what vale started would almost surely backfire.

there are only so many people left that can be bought anytime with "9 times!9 times!"
