Suzuki quitting MotoGP at the end of 2022

Wow... Right in the nuts.

sad..very sad. Well maybe they could sell their project to KTM.

Hope Rins gets a sit for next year (Aprilia would fit him).

Just like the “real world”, you have to belong to the “correct” mafia, ie the one that people in power have paid off, in order to grease the skids for things to go your way.

Get that wrong and your board says we’re out. It’s too expensive and counterproductive to backtrack.

Yes, that is possible. I hope he scores a decent seat. Personally, I don’t care about Mir.

I hope the technical people also find good places to go.

What will happen to Moto2 and 3? SDK just got a promotion from MotoAmerica to Moto2 with Suzuki.

Hoping to see BMW and MV Agusta join MotoGP!!

I tried having fun with the mob speak/references@22. Seems folk here prefer Guy Richie over Scorsese and Chase.
Back to my old shtick then....

I like Snatch but I'm more a Scorcese fan. Sometimes I miss the references but keep it up ;)

True. Suzuki doesn't have the star power or the sponsor rolodex of the Big 3. KTM are linked to Red Bull via the Austria connection.

Suzuki may leave and do the same as Kawasaki, but the reasons behind each manufacturers departure, are probably a bit different. Kawasaki got screwed royally by all of the changes that occurred in the 800cc era. I wouldn't trust Dorna or the MSMA after that, either. Suzuki's move is cold and calculated, imo. No emotion. They know MotoGP isn't providing anything.

Dorna say Suzuki can;t leave on its own:

If they are forced to stay a la Kwak in 09, I guess we'd just see a satellite operation.

I'm betting he gets Dovi's seat, or possibly Franco's

Maybe but doesn't Razali prefer to develop young talent? Plus, paying a rookie would not be as costly as paying Rins though I don't know how much Rins makes.

Don’t think MotoGP benefits from forcing a manufacturer to participate. There are industries where compelled performance is not a real legal remedy.

I’m assuming Dorna is just saber rattling to maximize leverage and extort Suzuki for max money. Waste of time, imo. Best case is Suzuki dedicates themselves to SBK.

Will this end as a Hayate style operation?
Manufacturer? There's the 5 manufacturers and this pygmie thing from Hamamatsu.
They're a glorified team! they gotta go!

In the case of Dovi it doesn't matter. He/that bike is contracted directly to Yamaha.

Dovi is having an abysmal yr and already there is talk of retirement at the end of the season if not earlier. Having a rider like Rins is more likely to bring sponsorship dollar in too.

No one is going to make them stay if they don't want to. Things were more precarious in 09 when Kawasaki left and apparently Honda were very very close to pulling the plug too. MotoGP/Dorna are in a much stronger position now.

At the moment the rumour mill is RFN Yamaha will move to Aprilia bikes, with VR46 then taking over the satellite Yamaha's.

It would be good for all, Dovi included, if he were to move on to greener pastures.

Beautiful. Wiesinger literally translated that article into bad german 12 hours after it's release. That is his journalism.
If I can ask the forum to do two things:
1. Never read a Wiesinger article. It's all ..... you lose knowledge.

2.Ride two stroke as long as you can

"Many say that Mir will go to Honda or Yamaha but the truth is that Joan was ready to sign his renewal with Suzuki. [GPOne.com] "In fact, the negotiation was already at an advanced stage. He wanted to stay there. That’s always been his priority. What I can say is that he’s in shock at what’s going on and he’s worried."

Those are the words of Paco Sanchez, Mir’s manager as he spoke on a Twitch broadcast after the Jerez test.

Looks like Mir is in a tough spot

I can't see Mir not getting a ride. He's a recent world champion. Riders I see in trouble at the end of this yr, especially if they continue their current form:

Alex Marquez
Pol Espargaro
Maverick Vinales
Franco Morbidelli

It's almost accepted that Dovi is out of the sport at the end of the yr, if not sooner, so there is a 'factory contract' M1 up for grabs too.

I see Yamaha trying to get Mir to replace Morbidelli and if they don't get him, having Rins.If Rins doesn't get a Yamaha ride I think he will replace Vinales at Aprilia (or even Aleix, he's getting up there in years).

I'd put Taka on that list as well. At this point, I can see both Raul and Remy wanting out of KTM.
