Danski is fairly accurate. Over 20C is into "Too Hot".
We have 12C today. And drizzle.
Monday and Tuesday last week were certainly summery and approaching too hot.
I was off work on Thursday and Friday when we had the thunder and lightning

Is thunder not the noise manifestation of lightening, whereas lightening refers to the visual element. We regularly experience thunder but not lightening. I realise there must be lightning somewhere for there to be any thunder, but maybe in the clouds or something?
This time there was actual flashes. And my router blew. Incidentally, was that a surge through the electrical cables that caused that? I have no idea why I've put the TV, surround sound amp and blu ray player all on surge protectors, but not the router.
Hmm, why do I hear thunder really regularly but it's maybe only once a year that the excitement of flashes and streaks of lightning joins in?

Yes - and since light travels faster than sound they manifest themselves separately unless you have the misfortune to be directly beneath. They can be said to be one and the same although the diffuse rumbles you hear during a thunderstorm are actually attributed to the rapid expansion of the air surrounding a bolt of lightning. Because electricity follows the shortest route, most lightning bolts are pretty much vertical. The shock waves nearer to the ground reach your ear first, followed by the crashing of the sound waves from higher up. Vertical lightning is often heard in one long rumble. However, if a lightning bolt is forked, the sounds change. The shock waves from the different forks of lightning bounce off each other, the low hanging clouds, and topography to create a series of lower, continuous rumbles of thunder.
Really? This sounds like a smaller surge possibly as a consequence of the storm. My fridge freezer plays havoc with the digital TV - some models used to have surge supressors inbuilt. Thermostat arcing and the compressor start up.
A common surge protector will guard against spikes but in the case of an electrical storm, a close lightening strike is often too powerful to protect with a small strip device, an RCD or even a hefty USP unit. If these devices are in the lightning's path all or part of the lightning will simply flash over or through it. In such cases most if not all of your electrics would fry and any appliances plugged in would also be toast. I unplug everything if an electrical storm is in close proximity. Even then, people have been injured or killed in their homes due to lightning arcing through sockets or even finding passage through steel beams. If in doubt, get in the car - Faraday Cage effect.
Often it can be the other way around. Heat lightning does not produce a discernible sound because it occurs too far away to sustain a sound wave over the separation of distance. It is not possible to have thunder without lightning. The average duration of a lightning flash is under half a second so it is possible during the day time to miss these and only hear the resultant peel of thunder.

Thats a bad winters day where I am.
20 is contolled lab. Ambient.
I had a 47C day ( or two ) last summer.
You hear horror stories about brits. Getting off a plane and thinking the world was on fire at 45
I dont blame them at 47. I once experienced 51C and I thought the same.Yea I honestly cannot imagine what 45C feels like. Really, if it gets ANYWHERE near mid 20s here, we are all flopping about, too hot, facebook awash with sunburn pics and "what do I do with these blisters" posts and people getting heat stroke.

12c is as low as the temperature gets for me. That would be middle of night, overcast in winter.
Average temp 26c all year round.
Wet and dry. Don't really have an autumn or spring.

It's been the hottest summer on record here.
3 weeks or something over 35C. And the last week over 37C.
I went to the PI last week, first time I've done to escape heat rather than the winter chills.
Just looked at weather app. 21:30 and it's 33C with 70% humidity ("feels like" 42C) Frrezing cold Suntory beers are a godsend

15:30 it's 15C with 89% humidity, feels like 12C, 7mph SE wind. So definitely what fits into the mild category. At the stables later we'll still be saying "it's really warm" and not know whether to leave rugs on our horses overnight or not.
How very British, discussing weather. Our non-summery weather at that.
MotoGP is back for my birthday. I like to think it's a personal present to me from Dorna AND from all the riders. Especially from the riders. I'm not even upset that they are racing a day early.
